Jack Redshaw is a player who is perhaps best remembered at Spotland for his matches against Dale rather than the few he played in a blue and black shirt.

Taken on by the club following his release by Manchester City in the summer of 2010, Redshaw had scored tonnes of goals in the youth ranks for the Citizens, but at 5'4 was perhaps held back by his height - something Dale hoped wouldn't be as much of an issue in League One.

However, Redshaw's first spell at the club saw him earn just two brief substitute cameos against Colchester and Brighton, before his contract was terminated in January and he was allowed to join non-league outfit Salford City.

Having enjoyed short but prolific spells spells with Salford and Altrincham, Redshaw returned to the Football League in 2012, joining Morecambe. He was always a threat to the Dale defence during his time with the Shrimps.

A brace in a 1-2 win for Morecambe at Spotland in 2012 didn't go down well with the Dale supporters and Redshaw revelled in winding up the Sandy Lane once again the following season, celebrating in front of the home fans after firing his side ahead - only for Scott Hogan and Ian Henderson to turn the scoreline around and earn Dale the win.

After Morecambe, the striker made the move to local rivals Blackpool but was in and out of the side at Bloomfield Road and even briefly returned to Dale on loan, making just one appearance in the 2016/2017 campaign - playing four minutes of a goalless draw away at Fleetwood.

In the following summer, Redshaw appeared on trial at Dale, scoring a hat-trick in a friendly victory at Chorley. The club had tweeted that 'A Trialist' had scored a hat-trick, despite the whole of Victory Park and indeed the whole of Twitter knowing exactly who the player was to bag the three goals.

A third spell seemed to beckon, before the diminutive striker instead opted to return to Moor Lane with another of his former clubs, Salford City. He was prolific with Salford once again, but found himself slipping down the pecking order and would be shipped to Halifax Town last year making 15 appearances in his sole season at the Shay.

Redshaw joined York City in the summer and has scored once in nine league appearances so far for the National League North outfit.
