News this afternoon that Steve Cooper will not be going to Crystal Palace because Patrick Vieira is on the brink of signing a contract to manage and coach the club for the next three years.

Lawyers and the usual legal eyes are being run over the Palace contract offer, and unlike Nuno a few weeks back Vieira doesn’t come with such huge demands financially and in back room staff. The embarrassment for Palace when Nuno walked away from negotiations in full public view will be something they will want to avoid.

It could be this is announced later today or in the morning with the deal now being reported as agreed in principle. That narrows down Steve Cooper’s options to move away from Swansea City, and with Fulham still mulling over the compensation for him, it’s clear to us he isn’t as valued by the London sides he has been connected with recently.

Because if he was they would have coughed up and he still wouldn’t be hanging around for a new job. If the Fulham job does go to someone else then what avenue does Cooper have ? Apart from an orchestrated press conference refuting everything and saying his heart is at Swansea.
