Major change of strategy in Swansea manager hunt
Thursday, 29th Jul 2021 12:12 by Keith Haynes

Swansea City boss Julian Winter has come up with a strategy to ensure the club has a manager in situ prior to the league season opener at Blackburn Rovers. Recent speculation on who is in the frame is confirmed with Russell Martin, Jody Morris, Derek McInnes and Cameron Toshack all being considered.

However, now we learn from an interested party in the USA and a contact at 10ten football agency that the swans have cast their net very wide over the last twenty four hours. Russell Martin has been made aware of the swans interest despite reports to the contrary, however his assistant Matthew Gill is reluctant to leave the project they have at MK Dons without clear assurances from Swansea City as to the financial situation at the Liberty. The main concern we now know for both him and Martin is to be able to bring players in, and trade players with more fluid control than the club give managers now.

Head of recruitment and ex Rotherham and Brentford manager Andy Scott currently manages much of what business the swans can do at present. We know this frustrated Steve Cooper greatly during his time at the club, and he found it very difficult to understand the fixed financial constraints passed down from the USA. Scott on the other hand does, and has more access to information at that level.

For us now this is the main issue, no matter what John Eustace states we now know the financial package offered was not to his liking, plus again the ability to bring his players in was going to be restricted. If those are personal reasons, then they are the reasons. Now though Julian Winter has been looking far away from the obvious candidates, and we understand he has numerous options who would jump at the chance to manage the swans under the clubs current conditions.

Just remember when Brendan Rodgers joined the club eight managers had turned Swansea down before he was appointed. Different times maybe, but fact and concrete fact as well. Winter has been placed under extreme pressure by the majority owners in the USA who are becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of positive news coming out of the Liberty. However, they too need to open the purse strings more if a quality candidate is to be found.

Julian Winter has had a disappointing two weeks to say the least as pressure increases

Julian Winter’s response has been dramatic over the last twenty four hours. If Morris and as expected Martin don’t find the job at Swansea to their liking you can be rest assured a concerted effort will be made before the league campaign starts. And we can assure you 10Ten football won’t be a long way from assisting much as they have already with Russell Martin. How do we know this ?

10Ten football represent him as well.

Swansea City haven’t given up hope of luring Russell Martin away from MK Dons as they also haven’t given up on Jody Morris, that work continues. Let’s just hope the new strategy isn’t one of panic to save Winter’s job at Swansea, and he continues to act as professionally as he has since he has been at the club.

What are your thoughts on the current managerial situation ?

The club needs a manager that can coach and set up a strong passing physical team that is already at Fairwood It will be added to with only one or r two super elite loans. Benda Cabango, Brandon Cooper, Garrick, Piroe Whitaker and joseph are young and powerful and hungry. It seems to me Morris is the man, if he can clear his head of budgets his own wage requirement and being fashionable. This job is a challenge. Only a fool and an ego the size of Belgium would take it on. Unfortunately Martinez is not longer 32 and available.
