Matt Grimes still to pass Fulham medical *Latest

The uncertainty regards Matt Grimes future at Swansea continues to take its time with news yesterday he still hasn’t completed a full medical for his potential suitors Fulham. Conflicting reports on Grimes fitness haven’t helped him with Alan Tate quoted as saying he could be back for Saturdays away game at Blackburn. However, sources close to Craven Cottage believe he is still soffering from the effects of Covid-19.

Take your pick.

Fulham have been patient with Grimes whose sale is one of the alleged reasons Steve Cooper left his managers position at Swansea last month. Having accepted a bid in ‘principle’ from Fulham the swans allowed Grimes to discuss terms with them. Unfortunately these negotiations became protracted and then the injury / illness to Grimes held up the process even more. What we do know is the ‘principle’ agreement fee will not include any agreed sell on clauses, appearance clauses or additional agreements. These are yet to be ratified.

Swansea City wanted the matter concluded this week, and although that could still be possible it’s more than clear that if it does drag on Fulham will withdraw their interest and look elsewhere. They were initially keen to bring Grimes in as a first choice midfielder. That would then leave them with an option to possibly loan out Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa. The midfielder who is being tracked by Valencia, and who have already been refused his services on loan pending Grimes transfer.

The issue can’t go on though, Swansea want a conclusion, Grimes has hardly kicked a ball pre season in anger, and money has started to talk. The swans want the potential 3.5 million deal sorted as rapidly as Fulham do. However, if the player isn’t fit then the stalemate will continue. Here’s hoping for everyone’s sake Matt Grimes gets his wish to leave the Liberty shortly, because the season starts on Saturday, and it’s time to move on.
