Russell Martin : We go everywhere to win every game
Tuesday, 10th Aug 2021 08:45 by David Cornish

Russell Martin has made it very clear that tonight’s game against Reading in the league cup is an excellent opportunity to see more of his squad in first team action. Talking about tonight’s game against Reading, a place which has been a positive hunting ground in recent years for the swans he is very positive on the outcome of tonight’s fixture.

Around 600 Swansea City supporters are expected to make the trip this evening to support the swans, many of the away support being made up of swans fans from the area and London. With an extended ticket window introduced yesterday that could now be more.

Russell Martin as very positive, he has had a few more days to train with the squad “We need to see everyone in the building if we can, in a game situation. They’ve all been brilliant in training, and now they have to try and take the chance on the pitch, it’s as simple as that. I’m looking forward to it, it’ll be another chance to see what everyone’s about and how well they take details on. “It’s another chance to practise some of the stuff that we want to do. Hopefully, it took enough belief in some of the moments they had in the game on Saturday to take in to tonight. “The quicker we get the first win, the better for everyone. It builds belief in the group. We’re going to go there to try to win, we’re going to go everywhere and try and win”

It’s clear as well that Martin has a ruthless streak in him as he displayed when dropping Joel Piroe from the squad last Friday before departing to Blackburn Rovers.

Reading owner Dai Yonnge is at loggerheads with the supporters after the Royals could only field five subs against Stoke City on Saturday. The club are under a financial stability embargo from the EFL. Dai Yonnge. hasn’t spoken to the media in three years and Reading manager Veljko Paunovic is nine the wiser as to his ability to recruit players before the transfer window. Ovie Ejaria, John Swift and Lucas Joao are all doubtful as Reading much the same as Swansea City make numerous changes tonight. Romanian George Puscas is expected to start, having appeared from the bench in the 3-2 defeat at Stoke City over the weekend, likewise other benched players such as Tom Holmes, Dejan Tetek and Luke Southwood.

At Swansea there couldn’t be more positive noises coming from within the club, Jamie Paterson scores on his swans debut on Saturday and it’s evident at least two new players will be seen at the Liberty by Saturday. The number 9 jersey is yet to be filled at the club which is a telling statement that more is to come. Joel Piroe will be involved tonight from the start.

The game kicks off at 8pm at the select car stadium in Berkshire. No TV streams are available due to transmission guidelines but the club have an audio stream available via the official website plus Radio Wales will provide commentary.
