The Welshman looking to upset Swansea City in the league cup !
Monday, 23rd Aug 2021 11:51 by David Cornish

Plymouth Argyle visit the Swansea.Com stadium for their second round tie overflowing with confidence after a very decent start to their football season. The swans recorded their first win at their fourth attempt on Friday night, so both sides will fancy progressing to round three.

The Covid situation within the Swansea City squad means Flynn Downes and Ben Cabango won’t be included for this game. Liam Walsh is still injured but it is hoped Ryan Bennett and Kyle Naughton will pass fitness tests on Tuesday afternoon. Connor Roberts remains a long term injury issue. It narrows down Russell Martin’s choices for the game.

In the first round Ryan Lowe's men won in style, thrashing Championship outfit Peterborough United 4-0 thanks to a Ryan Hardie brace, and goals from Luke Jephcott and Panutche Camara. They then built on that upon their return to league action, as Luke Jephcott netted a late winner to fire the Pilgrims to a 1-0 home win over Gillingham before he again got on the scoresheet in a 1-1 draw with Cambridge United in the following game. Lowe's men made a return to winning ways last time out, as they thrashed Shrewsbury Town 3-0 away from home thanks to another Hardie brace and Jephcott's fourth goal of the campaign.

Swansea City beat Plymouth Argyle in a pre season friendly at Home Park recently.

Memory lane takes us back to the 92/93 season when the swans won 1-0 away at Plymouth.

Luke Jepchott, Wales U21 International is raring to go against the swans in the league cup. He has had a superb start to his scoring season with Plymouth, and is looking to add to his four goals already scored this season. Born in Aberystwyth he signed for the pilgrims in 2014 as a youth player from Helston. Surprisingly not really linked with a move away from the south west to a bigger club recently, although there has been interest, it is expected he will become of extreme interest if his goal scoring feats continue. Jephcott is the player to watch for sure.

5 million rated Luke Jephcott, Forest are interested, but nothing firm

Team news will follow on Tuesday.

Time for the Swansea commentator to hung up his stirrups. Swans TV need better younger people . I think it is Anthony O'Connell?. I used to listen him on Swansea Sound I believe and he knew everything. I went to games and listen to Anthony as he identified the opposition players in live time. I recall seeing David Nugent score two at the Vetch as an 18 year old. Sadly now it seems he does no research. In the above clip no Plymouth players are identified apart from the goal scorer "Jephcott". Sadly even that was wrong. It was Hardy. Jephcott was not even on the pitch. Swans TV is on "easy street".
