Swansea City travel to Brighton in the League Cup 3rd Round
Wednesday, 25th Aug 2021 22:48 by David Cornish

As the balls rattled around the pot and the teams came out, the hopes of the majority of swans fans would have been a home tie, against anyone. That wasn’t to be the case, and maybe somewhat disappointingly, be that for the travelling time on a midweek night, or from the point of view it’s going to be a tough ask, the draw could have been far more sympathetic.

When Swansea City won the League Cup in 2013 they had to beat Liverpool and Chelsea over two legs to reach the final before thumping Bradford City 5-0. This time the swans have scored seven goals in two games beating Reading away by three, and hammering Plymouth Argyle 4-1 in the second round. The swans only conceding one goal. If impact is to be made this time around then they have to navigate a very tough tie in Sussex.

The swans were last out of the hat

Numerous premier league ties too

Brighton will be one of the tougher draws for sure, it reunites Graham Potter with the club that earned him his big Premier League move two seasons ago for one, but also some of his staff are still with him after the move away from Swansea. Regardless of the distance, the day of the week or the time there is one guarantee for this game. Send the tickets and they will come, and it will be in the thousands.

More reaction to the draw later.
