Lincoln’s loss is definitely Swansea’s gain : Imps chairman hits out at the swans
Wednesday, 8th Sep 2021 09:00 by David Cornish

Lincoln City were all ready to welcome Swansea City starlet Morgan Whittaker to Sincil Bank on deadline day, the paperwork was pretty much concluded when the swans attempts to bring in another forward player collapsed.

Lincoln CEO Liam Scully felt extremely let down by Julian Winter right at the last minute and wasn’t backwards in coming forwards. He angrily stated “Obviously, on deadline day itself, everyone knows what went on. We were desperately disappointed, frustrated, angry, annoyed over the collapse of the Whittaker deal I suppose I felt every emotion under the sun. There’s no hiding that that has left us one player short, which isn’t ideal.”

Swansea City haven’t responded to the allegations but it was more than evident that as the final hours ticked by Whittaker was almost a Lincoln player. Attempts to sign strikers from Leeds were refuted, they clearly still feel somewhat annoyed with the swans over Dan James not joking them two years ago. However, Swansea City are not in the business of charitable donations to keep other clubs happy. The fact all efforts to get in a replacement for Whittaker failed left the majority of swans fans not at all unhappy.

Morgan has found the net regularly against all standards of opposition from Manchester City last season to his hattrick in the league cup against Plymouth Argyle. For us Morgan Whittaker wasn’t a player to be let go lightly, albeit on loan. We feel he will have a lot to offer the club as the season progresses. Plus the Swansea squad has been littered with injuries this season which means a player like Morgan should never have been in the shop window for other clubs in the first place. It was a mistake to even contemplate it.

He has come to Swansea, a very young man with a young fiancé and leaving the area would have meant more upheaval for a young man who has just settled in west Glamorgan. In any event we are dead pleased and with all due respects our player is our player, and long may he remain that.
