The quotes from a successful Swansea City weekend : Managers, Players and Fans !

The quotes that summed up the weekend for Swansea City from the people who matter the most.

RUSSELL MARTIN
“It was tense second half, probably a bit more tense than it needed to be,” he said. “I think the first half was outstanding, it really was, in terms of some of the football we played, the intensity we played at and the way we pressed in terms of how many times we won the ball back. “They are a side who are excellent and are based off real intensity and you could see that they are conditioned to play that way over the 90 minutes. “The manager has had time to work with them and their energy did not drop, whereas ours did a little bit. “But we should score more goals in the first half, we had some great chances and if we take those the second half becomes a lot easier and everyone can enjoy it and relax a little more. “We still had the better moments in the second half, we have limited a good side to no shots on target, something we spoke about before the game and the players have shown outstanding effort and desire. “It is coming, once we are really well conditioned to how we want to play, then you will hopefully see that first-half performance for longer periods. “We had been frustrated not to win the two previous home games as I felt we deserved to, but we got what we deserved today and hopefully that will relax a few of the players and we can keep improving from here.”

AND THE BOSS ON FLYNN DOWNES
Flynn was incredible, it’s difficult to single people out, but he does the dirty work perfectly well," he said. “He enables other people to do their roles brilliantly, he knows exactly what his role in the team is.“Kyle Naughton and the guys at the back appreciate him a lot, I know I would have if I had him playing in front of me. “He has an excellent willingness to learn, his attitude, his attention to detail and how quickly he learns is outstanding. “He’s playing in a completely different role to what he used to play at his previous club, as most of the guys are. “His desire to win and athleticism, with his increasing and improving technical ability, shows how much he wants to work. “That’s the point of playing him in this way, it’s the best way to improve players, it really is.”

JOEL PIROE
“It feels great to get the goal,” said Piroe. “It’s very nice that we finally win a game at home, as well. “To score another goal is always great. “The fans give us real energy. You can see we’re on the right track, and they really help us with that support, too.” “I’m really looking forward to the game against Fulham. They’re a good team, so hopefully I can continue my form," he added. I just want to score as many goals as possible.”

THE FANS

Oli
Made hard work of what could have been a thumping. So happy for a home win, and we looked good value for it at many points during the game. Piroe is the guy. Downes is unbelievable and Laird is a special player. Exciting we’ve got that home win #swans 🦢

Rhys Bish
Special mention to Flynn Downes & Ethan Laird today, absolutely superb performance from those two. Joel Piroe is looking a really good signing, 6 goals for him this season already. Oliver Ntcham is going to get a lot better when he's fully fit. Jamie Paterson was good as well 👏

Josh H
Ethan Laird is going to break my heart, isn't he? Another young player I'm quickly becoming fond of, on loan, sure to never sign on a perm.
Outstanding today.

Mark Read
For the first time today in 567 days I sat in my seat to watch @SwansOfficial My god it felt good to be back. 3 points and a clean sheet. Shout out to @EthanLaird what a baller!!! And that smile he does is very very appealing ❤

Charlie Clode
Ethan Laird and Flynn Downes unreal again, shock

Carlos Corberan Huddersfield Town manager
The issue is that despite clearly going up a level in that final 30 minutes, we were still unable to create anything of note.

The football weekend is over folks, we roll on to Craven Cottage for the toughest test of the season so far on Wednesday night.
