Gareth Bale out for the start against Belgium
Monday, 15th Nov 2021 13:54 by Gruff Stephens

Wales manager Rob Page has stated that Gareth Blade won’t be selected to start the game against Belgium tomorrow night. He as also said that was the plan all along.

Post match after the 5-1 win against Belarus Bale said “It was always the plan to play 45 minutes. I have been out for two months. The plan was to come off and try and get ready for Tuesday” That now has seemingly backfired with Bale starting in the bench in this final group game. Wales need a point to guarantee a second place play off spot, and a better draw for those March play offs.

Bale concluded “I am just happy to be back. It was a hard road to be back from injury but it was worth it. Now we will look forward to Tuesday." Page’s revelation will leave a few scratching their heads, but whoever plays tomorrow night needs to be right on their game for the visit of the worlds number one team.

Speaking before the international break, Bale's club manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed: "He's going to go to Wales and they will assess whether he's fit or not. "It'll be down to how the player trains there. Bale is fine and it's clear it's very important he feels right training after two months out and whether he's feeling confident. "It's not his best period here but the fans will not forget what he's done... If he is right when he comes back from international duty and he deserves to play, he will play."
