Swansea manager wins huge vote of confidence from the fans
Tuesday, 30th Nov 2021 07:45 by Gruff Stephens

Swansea City supporters have voted overwhelmingly in support of Swansea City boss Russell Martin. Asked two very clear questions on Russell Martin and his coaching teams tenure to date, over one hundred and thirty fans had their say over five weeks.

The question
How happy are you with Russell Martin and his coaching team ?

The answers offered
Very, it’s definitely coming together
Not at all, it isn’t working

As he has always stated since coming in to Swansea City, Russell Martin has said ‘We want to build something here that the club and supporters can be proud of’ That has clearly been accepted by the majority of those who voted in this poll. Only just over fifteen percent stated they were unhappy with his management. Just under 85% answered positively for the young manager.

It will be a ringing endorsement for a coach with an intelligent and well versed vision of possession football, dominance of the game, and creating more opportunity to score goals. We have seen it work on numerous occasions this season, and we have also seen it falter as well. However, that's what transition is all about. Developing the players to react to situations positively by remaining in control.

This is also a ringing endorsement for Martin when compared against Steve Cooper and a similar poll where only thirty two per cent wanted him and Mike Marsh to carry on their work at the club. And this as the swans were heading towards their second play off spot. Swans fans are hard to please it seems.

It seems to be a fair reflection too of the way Russell Martin is being received on social media. Although 5% of these votes did float a bit from one result to the next, we feel after the Reading game, a 3-2 home defeat was the best time to assess these results. For us here at Swansea Independent we are extremely pleased with some of the football fayre on show in SA1. And as we approach Christmas 2021 with a transfer window ahead of us the hope remains that further recruitment will be made to solidify what is already an exciting time in Swansea City history.
