Swansea City’s weekend game at QPR is postponed
Tuesday, 14th Dec 2021 21:10 by Keith Haynes

As we reported yesterday morning a request was put in to the EFL by Queens Park Rangers to call off Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at Loftus Road. The EFL have agreed much to the surprise of West Bromwich Albion manager Valérien Ismaël who was forced to play his home fixture last Saturday against Reading under similar circumstances.

The EFL have released a statement.
An EFL statement read: “Further to a number of positive COVID-19 cases in the first team squad, Queens Park Rangers’ Sky Bet Championship fixture against Swansea City on Saturday 18th December has been suspended. “QPR informed the EFL that it would be unable to fulfil the fixtures at the Kiyan Prince Foundation stadium this weekend, having previously been unable to fulfil Monday night’s fixture against Sheffield United. “In accordance with EFL Regulations, the League will review the circumstances of the postponement with a rearranged date for the fixture to be confirmed in due course.”

QPR sit fifth with 35 points. Swansea, however, sit 16th with 27 points.

It seems it’s a flexible rule for clubs as it stands with the bigger clubs being allowed to cancel their fixtures or in a few cases already London based clubs. Could be a coincidence, but Valérien Ismaël’s comments yesterday do have certain club administrators raising their eyebrows somewhat.
