Unwanted players to meet today with Russell Martin : Swansea transfers out latest
Wednesday, 29th Dec 2021 11:17 by Keith Haynes

The players no longer required by Swansea City manager Russell Martin have scheduled meetings today with the manager and Mark Allen to discuss their latest options. Martin needs at least three to go out on loan and another three at least to leave permanently.

Here is the latest from our inquiries, most of it makes sense but there does seem to be an element of gambling going on, but then we suppose that’s a thing with all transfers at this time of year. Despite the Covid-19 virus in all its forms the swans have little choice but to press on regardless. Players have been told they are leaving, Jay Fulton is one who has secured at least some talking space for him to leave. However, others are still very much in the balance.

Yan Dhanda, Jay Fulton, Jake Bidwell, Liam Walsh and Steven Benda are the main five the swans would listen to offers for. Dhanda realises as much as Fulton his time at Swansea is over. However, due to the lack of confidence in the transfer market he would be let go on a free or even on a short loan until the end of the season. That’s his salary freed up. Fulton wants to leave, we know that, it’s now really down to a fee, he has clubs interested, and if the swans required fee isn’t agreed he too could go on loan to one of the interested clubs. We must remember most of these clubs would be rivals in the same league though. We broke the news on Birmingham City wanting Jake Bidwell, and this has been confirmed but the swans and blues haven’t had any discussions on his transfer in recent weeks. Again Bidwell could go out on loan with Birmingham and Bristol City ( despite their protestations ) both interested. This is a salary freeing up initiative with loans being the second option to amassing a greater salary pot.

Liam Walsh surprisingly has seen little game time

Liam Walsh clearly has many admirers in the game, again he hasn’t seen a hardly any match time in recent months. He is injury prone and no club would pay money for him at this point without a very scientific look at his current medical status. His lack of game time will have done little to enhance his prospects of a permanent transfer, again a loan is more likely. Portsmouth are interested, as well as Sheffield Wednesday, that’s confirmed but nothing more has developed. Steven Benda is pretty much a third choice now with MK Dons keeper Andrew Fisher almost agreed away from the two clubs agreeing a transfer fee. And both clubs assessment on his value is miles apart. However, we do know there are players that could be brought in to the mix to make that happen. Benda has had some interest from a German club, although details are sparse.

On the other loan options Morgan Whittaker is already chalked off as leaving for six months on loan to Lincoln City, not a lot more to say on that. Liam Cullen is one who is literally in a frozen state, he won’t get much if any game time at Swansea for the remainder of this season. We hear he wants to stay at the swans, we know the swans want him out on loan and there has been little interest in his services. As we have said Newport would be interested if something could be agreed, and that may suit him, however far higher profile clubs would take him in league one. Sadly here has been little or no interest as of yet. That would certainly change as the window progresses. The club are expected to put some ideas to him today.

Brandon Cooper is the real conundrum, Swansea City supporters like his progress since returning from Newport. He is a solid defender and for us should be in the centre of the defence with Ben Cabango. That would free up Ryan Bennett for a move. However, it seems another loan is around the corner for Cooper, again either to a club yet to declare its hand or as a part of some player bargaining. MK Dons would welcome him most certainly, They have Harry Darling in their ranks and Martin is pretty desperate to get him and Andrew Fisher in to the club permanently. Joel latibeaudiere hasn’t seen much game time and we do know the swans would consider a loan, Martin is a fan and loves his commitment and attitude, so a loan could happen.

Jake Silverstein is still in Swansea negotiating deals with Mark Allen

Mark Allen and Jake Silverstein are both working steadily to negotiating two permanent transfer deals, plus they both haven’t given up on more movement and flexibility with Manchester City. That is their young players McAtee and Doyle plus maybe one other. Obviously they won’t all come but ducks need lining up. Jordon Garrick is settled at Plymouth, Oli Cooper would like to stay at Newport until the end of the season and Kyle Jospeh at Cheltenham is getting some game time but not as much as he wants. That’s become obvious in the last three weeks. None are expected to be recalled, that is of course unless cash was put on the table for their services permanently, away from their loan clubs.

Other fringe players that could find themselves on a loan move are Dan Williams and Lincoln Mcfayden, both need to experience more than the level they are playing at currently. We will have more news on the established swans players like Joel Piroe, Olivier Ntcham, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes and Jamie Paterson as we progress.

What are your thoughts on the swans pending transfer activity ?

Do not forget Cameron Evans. He is now rested in his off season after his irish spell where he did a sterling job. Bring inelite loans alolow Swansea prospects to gey game time in lower leagues. Players like Brandon Cooper Ollie Cooper and garrick became automatic picks confirming their quality.

Cullen need to do this. He needs toughen up to add to his sharp shooting skills. He should bang in 20 goals for Stevenage or Newport. Failing that Torquay. If he does not want to move Penybont.

Unused players who have not had game time should consider the Summer Irish league. Cullen, Brandon Cooper, Rusheha Butler, Dan Williams. More developed players like Latibeaudiere, Obafemi should go on loan to DC United. The old boy sages on here say Arriola and Morris were out of their depth. Lati and Obafemi would rip up the US league in that case
