Wednesday, 19th Jan 2022 10:21 by Felts on Swansea

Jamie Paterson is allegedly set to return to training today with Swansea City, however that won’t be with the first team after his recent claims he want in the right frame of mind to play for the club. This after taking six days off from last Thursday.

Let’s add some context to the current timeline of reports on this website. Click on the links, it’s quite a web that he sows from last Thursday, by the player and clearly his advisors. Our reports on Jamie Paterson are below in relation to his refusal to play for the swans and not being present in training as expected. And an update.

We first reported his absence last week.
Breaking news story, Paterson out for Saturday 🔴

Albeit at the time his absence was allegedly due to an injury, of course we now know that wasn’t exactly true. Then as the story unfolded we reported further disciplinary issues over the weekend, non Covid related.

It seemed on Monday after his failure to again turn up for training he wanted to talk to the swans.
Paterson wants to talk 🔴

If nothing else the club should have maybe made a statement of sorts, Paterson for the first time on Monday failed to turn up for training as agreed.
Training no show 🔴

Today it seems Paterson is ready to return to training, and after a series of breaches, especially not playing on Saturday, he will train with the under 23 squad. Rhys Williams has also been putting in shifts with the under 23’s as well, but for non disciplinary reasons. He is ready to return to Liverpool.

Wales on Line have reported Jamie had Covid prior to the Southampton FA Cup tie, which is an interesting angle, but a separate issue, if accurate, to the current situation Jamie has created since last Thursday.

Swansea City have an unhappy player on their hands, he has been allowed to take time out, although it is something which has resulted in a two week fine for the player. And club medical staff visited him for a check up last night.

We expect there to be bids this week, and next for Paterson, he has orchestrated a move, found himself in the under 23 side and out of favour. The only thing he can do now is accept his breach of discipline and get his head down and play for his club. Although we don’t expect this to go away too quickly. If at all.
