Russell Martin on transfers ‘There’s more to come”
Thursday, 20th Jan 2022 21:49 by Felts on Swansea

With at least ten days left in the transfer window Swansea City manager Russell Martin has hinted that more signings are to arrive in the city. Despite preparing a bid for Matt O’Riley who then had his head turned by Celtic. The swans though secured a transfer coup with the arrival of Hannes Wolf from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Speculation will be rife, but we still believe there’s a deal in one or two of the three linked young Manchester City players, and the prime target as it has been since December is James McAtee. He would complete the options Martin wants in midfield. Martin said today on more players to come to the club “Yeah there will be. I’m sure of that. We’ve been really clear in what we want. We’re slowly getting it ticked off and I think that’ll be the same until the end of the window. We’ll just wait and see what happens”

We first reported Martin’s interest in McAtee on December 1st last month. The story also contained the recall of Rhys Williams to Liverpool which sadly for him happened today.

There could well be a replacement coming in for Jake Bidwell too. Joel Latibeaudiere filled in extremely well last Saturday at Huddersfield, but a more established defensive wing back will be needed. It’s quite possible Josh Wilson-Esbrand an under 23 Left-Back could also make a loan move. There seems to be some concern regards the centre back position, Ryan Bennett one of the swans highest paid players sat last week out, and in recent times has shown defensive frailties. If there was money in the kitty as we discovered from Russell Martin earlier today, then Harry Darling will definitely fit the bill.

We will of course keep you updated as and when we get news of players that the swans find of interest.
