QPR v Swansea City : Form guides, Latest news & Expectations
Monday, 24th Jan 2022 09:40 by Gruff Stephens

QPR v Swansea City is always a feisty game, and there has been some rivalry between the clubs over the years. What is also a fact is both sides don’t score a lot of goals and history this season clearly shows this. It’s a welcome return to midweek football under the lights in west London.

Current form for QPR is excellent, they have had a far more competitive and promising season. Following a 1-0 win in April last year, QPR are looking for consecutive league wins over Swansea for the first time since a run of five between 1966 and 1980. John Eustace who very nearly joined the swans last year remains at the club. The swans will be well up against a form team who compete defensively as well. Queens Park Rangers’ last four home wins in the Championship have all come with a clean sheet, with three of those coming by the same 1-0 scoreline. They are tight and competitive and give little away.

Swans stats on the right

Sitting in fourth place and sixteen points ahead of Swansea City, QPR are the favourites for this game. We can again expect the more possession based side, that’s the swans, to dominate in this area but it has to be snappier and sharper than we have seen of late. QPR attack quickly, they respond well to being on the back foot and then breaking quickly, so that swans possession has to be retained or they most certainly will pay. This game is most certainly the hardest away game Swansea City have faced so far this season, they face a side full of confidence who know how to win.

Swansea City will assess Olivier Ntcham’s knock from Saturday and the future of Jamie Paterson is anyone’s guess but we don’t expect him to be included. Russell Martin will speak to the press later on today.
