Joe Allen commits to Swansea City ?
Saturday, 2nd Jul 2022 16:45 by Swans Indie Staff

Joe Allen who is now a free agent seems to be a step closer to joining Swansea City this evening after several reports have disclosed he is favourite to join his boyhood club. It hasn't been a secret that Allen wants to return to west Wales with his family and talks to sign him are ongoing.

There hasn’t been the air of secrecy that has followed the signings of Harry Darling and Matt Sorinola, and information now in the public domain is citing some progress in gaining Joe’s signature. Swansea made it very clear there was little room for another player of Joe’s profile at the swans, which also indicates either some cash has been lodged to complete the deal or the swans are closer than many know in moving on one of their saleable assets.

The obvious player at this point is Flynn Downes who has been the subject of a lot of premier league speculation this week. There has been talk of cash being freed up to sign Joe Allen but only to enable his signature pending a cash boost from a player sale. That is something the majority owners have done before.

Allen wants to sort his future out over the coming five days and wants to join his chosen club to get straight back in to fitness training for the new season. That season starts at the end of this month. Speculation that his terms have been agreed do not mean he has agreed to sign for the swans but it does give fans everywhere some hope there now can be only one destination for him.

As things progress we will keep you updated.
