More Joel Piroe interest : This time it’s Brighton
Tuesday, 26th Jul 2022 16:37 by Swansea Independent

National media reports are again speculating that Joel Piroe will leave Swansea City before the end of the transfer window on September 1st. The latest report is that Brighton are reviewing their striker possibilities with discussions continuing with Italian club Salernitana over Neal Maupay.

If that deal goes through the The Express’ as an example believe an approach could be forthcoming from ex swans manager Graham Potter’s seagulls. Brighton have struggled for goals in recent seasons and losing Maupay will open up a goalscoring gap, even though he has scored only sixteen goals in two seasons. His work rate has been terrific.

As we have said on numerous occasions Joel Piroe has had a significant impact during his first season in English football. He did struggle at first to find his feet at the swans and required some seriously well thought out management from Russell Martin last August. So much so the swans boss by his own admission really didn’t believe that Piroe would make it in the championship. However both persisted and the twenty million rated striker is keen to make a move to the premier league league sooner rather than later.

It also has reached our attention that Piroe and his advisor ( who is his father ) doesn’t really care which club it is, it just has to be a premier league side. It could be that Joel reflects on where Connor Roberts and Ollie McBurnie currently ply their trade if that is the case. The grass has been a lot greener for many players over the years, not least Lee Trundle, who quickly saw how difficult it can be away from the swans. Maybe Joel and Lee should have a chat. Lee’s experience and guidance would surely be of value ? However, you can’t keep a young man with ambition down, and we are certain still the swans will have further inquiries before the window ends, and with that will come some big decisions to make.

The narrative is that Swansea do not need to sell after letting Downes go. No negiociations required just the £20m with £10m up front and Connolly on loan for a season with an option to buy,
