Swansea City play their last game before the World Cup tomorrow
Friday, 11th Nov 2022 08:00 by @Cornish67David

After a week of tension, opinions and deep discussion Swansea City travel north later today in what has been a hectic period of travelling, training and game time. Russell Martin not least is welcoming a break from the gruelling championship schedule as well as the squad.

Having already had recent unsuccessful trips to Burnley and Preston, the swans return north again to Huddersfield for Saturdays 3pm kick off in the sky bet championship. The fans who have to travel the furthest in the league will be there as well in big numbers.

Three players will be away from Swansea City for the World Cup, Joe Allen, Ben Cabango and Olivier Ntcham. The last two will find themselves included in the Swansea City side this weekend, Ntcham especially who was on top form on Tuesday night at Birmingham. In lieu of their absence the swans will be focussing on a number of areas for improvement after Saturdays game, especially the Achilles heel that is positioning, ownership and communication at set pieces and crosses. Two goals conceded at Birmingham City highlighted that. Swans boss Russell Martin has made that clear this week. “We have a three or four-week block of work after a little bit of time off after Saturday to really work on the stuff that's hurting us, and as ever we have to find solutions to problems."

Olivier Ntcham has hit form for Swansea City

With his squad intact bar Liam Walsh the swans manager and staff have a duty more than anything to research and seek out the failings we saw at Birmingham and of course at numerous other fixtures recently, especially Wigan. The good news is the fitness of the squad. Martin confirmed. “The squad is in really good shape, no injury concerns after Tuesday. It’s been about getting them recovered quickly ready for Saturday” Swansea City have granted their squad six ( in a few cases seven ) days rest and recuperation before reconvening at Fairwood for the three week interval during the World Cup. The swans play Norwich City on Saturday December 10th so plenty of time to concentrate on those issues that concern Russell Martin. Not only that but there will be a few friendlies as well in Scotland against Glasgow Rangers and Heart of Midlothian.

We will have more news later on potential selections for tomorrows game.
