Hannes Wolf still on Swansea City’s radar this January Thursday, 12th Jan 2023 08:22 by Swansea Independent Swansea City made an unsuccessful attempt to bring Hannes Wolf back to west Wales in December but still haven’t given up hope of a potential return for the Austrian this month. Injury issues are hampering the players progress this season He suffered a labial tear in his shoulder joint and after being substituted on by Daniel Farke in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 3-0 win over Leipzig. Wolf was replaced by Patrick Herrmann only a few minutes later. The swans made their move when it became apparent as it did last January the player needed rehabilitation and games. The loan bid was rejected, and despite Hannes returning to training in December and looking bright and fit his club are happy with his progress in Germany. Borussia beat Arminia Bielefeld 4-0 at the FohlenPlatz last week in a training game and Hannes scored in the second half. Preparations for the loan move last season went without a hitch but this time around numerous factors have prevented progress. Our breaking news last season is here –> Hannes Wolf exclusive Dimitrios Pelkas pictured was the other option at the time, he now plies his trade at Hull City. It was an either or for the swans. ![]() Injuries have been an issue for Wolf again this season but his mentality hasn’t changed at all to his game. “Things haven’t gone the way I imagined so far, but I’m a fighter,” said Wolf, who added: “I don’t see myself as a flop. Of course, I know that a lot was paid for me, but I don’t make the price” Wolf has played just fifty one minutes in four games in the Bundesliga this season but missed the last eight competitive fixtures through a shoulder injury before the World Cup. Wolf added: “I offer myself as much as possible in training. I don’t have any control over what comes out of it at the end, that’s for the trainer to decide.” The swans haven’t given up total hope of something becoming clearer this month but the likelihood is slim. Having said that there is no reason at all why Swansea won’t go back to Borussia Mönchengladbach with another offer this month we are told. Wolf enjoyed his time at Swansea immensely but see’s the level his parent club play at as far more challenging than the championship. That doesn’t mean any deal is dead, but it will make any return to constructive talks far harder than they were last time around. ![]() Photographs licensed from Reuters Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
