Charlie Adam tackles Russell Martin over Morgan Whittaker : He must be Parched !
Monday, 23rd Jan 2023 18:54 by Swansea Independent

Ex footballer Charlie Adam who played just under thirty games for Liverpool and over sixty games for Glasgow Rangers has joined in the Morgan Whittaker transfer conversation from Swansea City to the Glasgow club.

Adam who clearly has some specialist knowledge on reserve players in the championship on loan in League one has chipped in with some advice for Russell Martin. Adam’s expert insight start with his knowledge of the player. “He’s had a lot of good loans and has done really well at Plymouth. Michael Beale only wants to add players who will affect the first eleven and Morgan will definitely add something to the team “

That’s a pretty decent knowledge base for an ex player who spent most of his career being red carded or putting an end to a players season like Gareth Bale at Spurs. We could say for being sent off for a challenge on Wayne Rooney. Oh, we have. He was also banned for stamping on Olivier Giroud. Bale named Adam as ‘ Charlie the coward’ after a string of poor challenges over six years on him.

Numerous challenges on Gareth Bale with an added extra

It came about during a friendly. The Tottenham star fears he may miss the start of the season after limping out of a Baltimore friendly following another late foul that the Welshman claimed was a deliberate attempt to injure him. Adam has history with Bale, after a shocking challenge in 2011 snapped the Welshman’s ankle ligaments and sidelined him for three months. The feud continued last season when the midfielder was dismissed at White Hart Lane for another bad tackle. A frustrated Bale directed a furious attack on the ex Liverpool player as he left the Ravens Stadium on crutches with his ankle in a protective boot support, following the pre-season showdown with the Reds. “From what I’ve seen of him on pitch, I think he’s a bit of a coward,” said the Wales star insisted afterwards. I was surprised to see a challenge like that in a friendly. We’re all over here to build our fitness and get a good workout and what he did was over the top, to be honest. But some people are like that and it’s just wrong.”

There are so many other incidents it would detract from this incredible insight from Charlie.

On Russell Martin, Adam stated. “Swansea are never going to be happy with the bids for Morgan Whittaker because you never go in with your highest transfer offer first. Russell Martin doesn’t need to play it out in the media, he should keep it all in-house and just say that you’re not happy with it.” That’s huge inside information there, the fact that Adam can reveal that the first transfer bids by a club are never going to be what they will eventually pay is an astonishing revelation.

Oddly enough Adam hasn’t commented on Gers manager Michael Beale’s similar comments on the same transfer speculation, maybe there’s a conflict of interest there ?

Let’s face it Charlie

The most interesting part of Charlie’s encyclopaedic football tapestry was revealed when he said. “Whittaker is a good player who is on the radar of a lot of clubs. He's had a lot of good loans and done really well at Plymouth” That sent us reeling with excitement when that information came in to Swansea Independent. Where has this man been for so long since he put players out of their misery on the football pitch ? So much so he made some of the most absurd comments heard on innocent tackling when Neil Taylor put Seamus Coleman’s career in jeopardy. He actually felt Taylor was innocent.

Something which was met with some derision across social media.

It’s always good to hear what other people think of the current state of play at your football club, but sometimes it’s also good to hear what people don’t know about your football club. Thanks Charlie, you must be ‘parched’ And on that subject. Peter Crouch reveals all. “We decided to call him Parched because during pre-season training it was intense - after you'd done your running or your training you'd go for a drink. We'd look over and Parched would be sitting with the coaching staff !”

It seems it’s not only those who have experienced him on the football pitch see Adam as a right charlie. They had their suspicions off it as well.
