Exeter City right back bid rejected, Swans to bid again ?
Sunday, 29th Jan 2023 09:47 by @Cornish67David

Exeter City right back Josh Key is a wanted man. He is out of contract this summer and a whole host of clubs are after his signature including Swansea City. It is believed that Sunderland, Luton and the Swans are now in a race for the twenty three year old.

Key has over a hundred games under his belt for Exeter and started his career at Torquay United. Numerous sources have reported the availability of the player but it seems only Swansea have made a bid which has been rejected.

Key wants to leave the Grecians either this January or in the summer on a pre contract agreement.

Last month key had contract talks with Exeter but nothing was agreed with manager Gary Caldwell stating. "We have Josh Key until the end of the season, we will be offering Josh Key contracts to stay," Caldwell said. He's a huge part of what we want to do, but I understand the game I understand there'll be people watching Josh Key every single week and see his quality, as I do. But we're in no need to sell him and I'm delighted to be working with him and trying to help him to make him better. I think he's going to have an amazing career and hopefully, in the short term at least, it's spent here."

Josh made a statement recently on the interest in him. "It's nice to know that there are people interested in your style of play and who you are as a player. It give you confidence to really push forward. Any young player wants to be recognised by other teams as a good player." It seems Exeter are resigned to losing Key over the next few days or indeed in the summer. The bid for Key we believe was first made last week but was immediately rejected. The amount is unknown.

It’s likely we understand the Swans will push for more dialogue tomorrow on the player.
