Swansea City slip back in the race for Arsenal midfielder
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2023 10:05 by Swansea Independent

Matt Smith, Arsenals twenty two year old midfield player is being chased by a host of Championship clubs plus Bundesliga Augsburg in Germany. Queens Park Rangers seem to be the fancied team at the moment, although Swansea City feel a permanent transfer would be of benefit to both sides. The Swans have been linked with him for the past two weeks.

Arsenal would accept around four hundred thousand for the player. His salary would be well within Swansea City’s budget. As a squad inclusion he would be an excellent signing but within a side that has already got a number of talented midfield players it could prove tricky. Russell Martin has remarked he wants players to challenge the first team and although Smith has had loans at Swindon, Doncaster and Charlton he would be seen as more of a squad player this season. However, there’s no reason why the Swans shouldn’t be looking ahead to fill future vacancies.

Smith is highly rated and has shone whilst on loan, Arsenal see him as a player they should capitalise on but many Arsenal fans would be unhappy to see him go. Unfortunately he hasn’t quite got the ability to be an Arsenal first choice so maybe a loan would suit ? His age is slowly going against him as well, Smith’s next move if he has one is crucial.

Well what does one expect from these tight fisted owners who would rather keep thyere money than invest in the club no interest in the club what so ever that is why they hardly come to the home matches well they would not be given a good welcome anyway talk about Glazers out of Man Utd we should be saying the same thing about them two at the Swans.
