Everything Russell Martin said after losing to Millwall
Wednesday, 15th Mar 2023 07:00 by Swansea Independent

Swansea City head coach Russell Martin stressed how well his team played against a side with one of the best home records in the championship yesterday evening. Looking tired but confident that his future at Swansea City is safe and Director Steve Kaplan reaffirmed that in a lengthy meeting in south London yesterday afternoon.

The Swans were undone by another dose of poor defending in the second half from a long throw in by Millwall and then an error from keeper Andrew Fisher who somehow allowed the ball to spin out of his hands for a second goal. The Swans fought bravely throughout the game creating numerous chances to score. When they did it was a deflected Matt Grimes shot off Ryan Manning to bring the away side back in to the game.

Morgan Whittaker came on in the second half and made a difference to the Swans attack, he had two shots on goal, one which the keeper parried which Joel Piroe struggled to convert, and another again which caused the Millwall keeper some concern.

Cheered on by a healthy away support amongst a sparse home crowd the result after all the hard work again has been undone yet again by the familiar errors.
