Russell Martin’s job at risk ? The influence of Swansea City’s investment examined
Friday, 28th Apr 2023 13:09 by Keith Haynes

We can reveal today some clarification on the three new Swans investors who have been referred to by BNN Bloomberg recently. It seems discussions are very near a conclusion and it’s a very positive move for Swansea City. However, there are some matters to clarify in that report. The three investors are Andy Coleman, Nigel Morris and Brett Cravatt that much we do know. All respected businessmen in the USA.

Contrary to popular opinion the three new investors were sourced by the current majority ownership in the USA. Jake Silverstein has been referred to as well as Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien. These three who are at the helm of the majority ownership at Swansea City are all involved in negotiations. This is accurate, and this afternoon we have been told that’s where the encouragement to invest begins and ends. Of course the Swansea board locally were aware, and you would expect a form of hospitality from local Swansea board members. And we understand that has happened.

This information comes from the USA from a trusted source who has divulged information which we have carefully managed before. We do have access to the investment details but for now have been asked to keep this quiet. Something that our source wanted to ensure is known is that the investment is a lot higher than the reported ten million pounds. They are pretty unsure where this ten million figure came from but it isn’t accurate.

The figure is higher.

So is this a part of a club takeover ? The simple answer is no, it isn’t intended to be a takeover nor is it going to lead to a takeover, our source is insistent that this isn’t and never has been the case. This is an investment in to the club with assurances. What those are will be made known when this deal is made public. We won’t assume anything regards this.

Questions have been asked regards the influence of the new investors on Swansea City Football Club. Well, this is where we are going to assume certain things. We believe this will mean there could be changes within the clubs structure in the near future. And those changes are most certainly on the horizon. Does this include Russell Martin will be the main question ? We expect him to remain in his role along with his immediate coaching staff in accordance with their contracts for now. There is a strong bond between Silverstein and Martin and this is expected to continue. The respect between the two at this time means the head coach will be allowed to continue and recent results do indicate an upturn in that feeling.

It would be ridiculous now to change two years of implementing a plan thatseems to be coming together. It would upset the whole playing structure and anger many Swansea followers.

Things can change as we know, but the club would be foolish to instigate change at Russell Martin’s level. However, it is almost certain that an investment of this nature will most certainly mean change elsewhere, it goes with the territory in any club investment of this type. We are certain this will happen.

We will of course continue to report the latest Swansea news and will look deeper in to the characters involved over the weekend.

Yes that is my opinion for the snipbits of information. As i have suggested a figure of £30-£40m is required to own 50% of the club. The recent £1m was to align the percentages to allow Kaplan and co to keep a controlling 51% of the club. Despite criticisms Levien, Kaplan and Silverstein are all experienced and successful sports franchise owners. The new investors would be wise to use their knowledge as they are from the financial community.
