Andrew Coleman : A personal address to the Swansea City squad in Spain
Monday, 3rd Jul 2023 07:00 by Keith Haynes

Andrew Coleman has spent a few days acclimatising to the Swansea way over in Spain as well as to his position as Swansea City Chairman. Whilst there he presented a lunch to the staff and players explaining his position as Chairman and how that in turn will affect the Swansea City squad.

Talking on Thursday to the staff and players in a personal address he said. “It’s been a busy week, a really, really busy week. I’m thrilled to have Paul Watson here joining us as well as Michael and his staff. The hope is this is going to be a transformative summer for the club. And I’m really, really excited about that. For those of you who have not had a chance to meet me yet I think it’s going important that I share a few things with you. While I’ve made a sizeable investment in to the club to become an operating partner, what is most important for me is that everybody is that I believe in a very different stance. I grew up in a family business, and my job is to facilitate growth in each and every one of you. Be it on the field, be it in growing our businesses - and you have my pledge when I’m here from August first with my family and you will get to know them they will be everywhere, we are loud Irish catholics. We grew up in a saloon and you will hear us and you will see us, and we will be all over the place. We are thrilled to be here, and my pledge to you is I will always be available, I’m approachable and I will be on the ground and I will be in the stadium and I want to facilitate what is this next chapter for you and the club”

Coleman may well have got off on an odd footing with Swansea City interested media when he took to social media to berate certain outlets regards the reporting of Julian Winter leaving the club. And as it transpired the U turn in retaining Josh Marsh in a player recruitment / scouting role. That’s water under the bridge and it’s very clear now Coleman will be busy during his formative days when he returns to Swansea at the end of this month with his family. He has made a huge commitment with no promise of any return in Swansea City, albeit the specific detail hasn’t been communicated to either the supporters or companies house. That we are assured will occur at the appropriate time.

Swans fans have to welcome the enthusiasm, investment and commitment of Andrew Coleman and put aside any initial issues which could have been avoided. Obviously the new Swans Chairman has aspirations for the club and for himself and his family whilst he undertakes what is an unforgiving role at times. He has endorsed and approved a number of changes in a short time Uber the last ten days and we will reflect upon them as the week progresses.

With the slate clean, it’s time to welcome Andrew a Coleman officially to the club.
