Swans injury update : Cabango out for big Leicester City test
Thursday, 19th Oct 2023 08:00 by Liam Walters

Swansea City have now conceded that Ben Cabango will not play a part in Saturday’s big game against Leicester City at the Swansea.Com Stadium. (KO 3pm) His hamstring injury is not as bad as it could be which is a relief, but he won’t be fit for this weekend.

In fact he could be out for a few games to come. That’s the information we have, head coach Michael Duff will clarify the overall situation when he meets the press this week.

Thursday report
That aside Carl Rushworth and Josh Key are fit as is Kristian Pedersen. Harry Darling and Josh Tymon are also available for selection and Bashir Humphreys will train with the squad today as well as the returning Charlie Patino. Matt Grimes, Jamie Paterson, Jay Fulton, Liam Cullen and the in form Jamal Lowe along with Jerry Yates will also be in contention. You would expect the first eleven to be selected from that list of names. Mykola Kukharevych has trained all week. Oli Cooper will add an option in midfield and the fit again Liam Walsh also adds strength to the midfield.

The Swans are on an unbeaten run of five games, winning four and drawing the other. They have beaten Plymouth and Millwall away coupled with Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday at home. The draw came away at Queens Park Rangers. During that time the Swans have scored twelve goals conceding just three. The Foxes have won all of their last five games. At home they have beaten Stoke, Preston and Bristol City. Away they have had victories at Norwich and Blackburn. The Foxes have also scored twelve goals with just one conceded. It’s a real match up between the top two form sides in the Championship.

It’s interesting to look back on the last game between these two sides which was played over five years ago in the Premier League. The fixture ended 1-1.

The Swans side that day was : Lukasz Fabiański, Federico Fernández, Alfie Mawson, Mike Van Der Hoorn, Kyle Naughton, Martin Olsson, Sam Clucas, Leroy Fer, KI Sung-yueng, Nathan Dyer, Jordan Ayew

On the bench were Tom Carroll, Wilfried Bony and Wayne Routledge who all had game time. It was Fernández who levelled for the Swans in the second half after ‘that man’ Jamie Vardy put the Foxes ahead. Tammy Abraham didn’t get any minutes. That season the Swans were relegated, and it was a surprise as Carlos Carvalhal had seemingly masterminded a superb recovery with six games to go.

Tickets are still available for this fixture with Leicester City having sold out their away allocation of 1,858. We will carry more as we build up to this game on the Indy.
