Swans prepare for Leeds United with more injury concerns
Monday, 12th Feb 2024 08:00 by Liam Walters

It’s a quick turnaround for the Swans today, fresh from a day off, injuries and knocks will be assessed, a few hours on the grass before planning and preparation for tomorrow nights game against Leeds United. The unique planning that Luke Williams puts in to a game will also feature today away from the training areas.

Analysis is key.

The injury list may have grown some more but Kyle Naughton is hopeful he won’t be joining the right back mystery line tomorrow evening. But it’s possible. That will mean Bashir Humphreys is likely to start out on the right, a position Harry Darling favours, but he is also injured currently. Of course with Harrison Ashby and Josh Key out for a while the defensive options start to dwindle somewhat. Ben Cabango and Nathan Wood did well on Saturday at Hull, and Josh Tymon was immense. That’s basically bare bones.

Luke Williams seems to favour Matt Grimes and Jay Fulton with Jamie Paterson just ahead of them. On the right we should see Ronald selected for his second game at home for the Swans. Placheta was substituted on Saturday so it could be possible we will see Charlie Sagoe JR. Whether the Swans head coach fancies that option is open to speculation. However he has said recently his players are footballers giving the indication some could play in a variety of positions. To us it’s fairly obvious Liam Cullen will start the game. Carl Rushworth is also an obvious selection in goal. When you are down to the last few to pick a first eleven when really your strongest eleven would struggle against Leeds United it has to be specific and well planned.

Filip Lissah has seen some bench time, he generally prefers centre back, but has played centre forward in the past. Since joining from Chelsea in 2021 the nineteen year old has progressed favourably but this game is not one to throw him in to. He should though make the bench again.

The current form guide reveals Leeds having won their last six games on top of the Championship with eighteen points. During those six games they have conceded one goal and scored thirteen. Ominous stuff. The Swans are a long way down the table with two wins, three losses and a draw. Just seven points collected but buoyed by the performance and result away at Hull City. It would be wrong to say the Swans will have every chance to take the points tomorrow night, but they will most certainly give Leeds a game.

Dan James, Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts and Joel Piroe all now feature for Leeds. We expect them to be made to feel uncomfortable and extremely unwelcome for this game. This is Swansea not Leeds.

The game kicks off tomorrow at 7:45pm at the Swansea.Com Stadium. Tickets are still available.
