Swansea City : Club auction after the fans forum this coming Thursday evening
Tuesday, 1st Apr 2025 08:00 by Swansea Independent

This coming Thursday there is a fans forum at the Swansea.com. This will be LIVE streamed. Not only that there will be an auction after the forum ends with bidders welcome from those attending the forum. There will be special phone lines within the stadium for bidders to register their interest if they cannot attend.

To participate you need to register with the club to be sure you have access if you are not attending the event. There will be some big items and some not so big which should interest everyone. We spoke with the club yesterday and can now confirm that everything is in place. All manner of items left behind by previous managers as an example will be up for sale. Some of those lots we have been told are notes taken by Steve Kaplan when he first attended a press interview at the stadium when he and Jason Levien took over the majority shareholding of the club. This will include a signed agreement between Oprah Winfrey and the majority shareholders when she invested money into the Swans. The purchaser will have to sign a non disclosure agreement, and bids will start from around £150.

Other interesting lots include the penultimate telephone bill from Andrew Coleman’s office within the stadium. People will recall he took over a hospitality area when a sponsor left the club in November. On the manager front there is a half completed wooden carving made by Francesco Guidolin which was going to be completed in the last two weeks of December 2017. Unfortunately he was sacked before completing it but has agreed to authenticate it as his work. In fact he has also made another one to commemorate this sale. We understand it is a drone with something explosive attached to it which he has already sent to Newport County. All in wood of course, it’s a sort of memorable gesture by Francesco the club have informed us. Those that still yearn for the return of Russell Martin can bid on a set of playing cards he often used in deciding his formation and strategy for Swansea games. Also recovered from the managers office are unused flight tickets to Washington DC for talks on the forthcoming season back in 2023.

A latecomer to the auction has been donated by ex Swansea manager, Paul Clement. He has passed on a pair of prescription glasses which Renato Sanches left at his house in Munich one evening along with a copy of his birth certificate.

Probably the most interesting lot is a signed declaration by Andrew Coleman that he wasn’t Swansea City Chairman in May 2023 before Russell Martin left the club. We are told this is quite a comprehensive contemporaneous note, albeit with lots of crossing out and a little doodle of a gnome Irishman smiling with an American flag tucked under his arm. Lee Trundle has donated his extremely funny Wales flag held up by him and Alan Tate after winning the football league trophy in 2005. In fact we are told there are five others with the same message which Lee made the night before.

It will be a fun filled night this coming Thursday and with around fifty lots to bid on and a free bar paid by new CEO Tom Gorringe the evening we think will be a resounding success. Keep your finger on the pulse by following the Indy.
