Swansea City Transfer News : Franco latest, Ricardo Santos & Gora Diouf
Thursday, 29th May 2025 15:15 by Liam Walters

Agents working hard indeed is the story of today. in Portugal Gonçalo Franco is in the football headlines and in the UK Ricardo Santos, plus one Gora Diouf of FC Sion surfaces.

Franco will be the name on everyone’s lips after disclosures in Portugal that clubs are finding him of interest. One reporting that Porto will prepare a ten million pounds bid for him. Well, first off if it was true it would be in Euros. Secondly, no club pays ten million off the cuff and that figure is nowhere near what would be paid. Of course all this depends on if it is true, and it isn’t. It seems that agent infiltration into the football press continues. We have explained the lengths some will go to for column inches. They sow the seed and then as time moves along it becomes fact. And this is not fact. Yes, Franco has a lot of admirers, and there could well be interest over the summer, but file this under nonsense for now.

Ricardo Santos is now a free agent, with Bolton Wanderers announcing the twenty nine year old would be leaving the club this summer he has attracted a lot of interest. News on the likes of football league world and associated websites has cited the Swans as bidding for him. Again, this is factually incorrect. The Swans have him amongst ten or so other centre halves in their sights, Ricardo isn’t their top target.

We did a feature on Ricardo Santos a while ago.

⚽️ Santos linked ?

Back then it was just a link and we can confirm now that’s what it remains to be. The club have done their due diligence on all of their targets to date. Any bid for Ricardo is pure rumour and the Swans haven't got to any stage that puts them in with a chance of signing him. The issue is there really are a lot of clubs tailing him, so much so that this will amount to the player sitting back and waiting for the best signing on fee and contract. He is only seen as a replacement for Cyrus Christie, and we can confirm that although he has a capability to step into the first team, that’s isn’t the plan as it stands. Despite exclusive news on Football League World.

Many Bolton fans are questioning the validity in Swansea City signing a ‘failed’ league one player (their words) least of all submitting a bid. Which as we have explained is incorrect.

Gora Diouf, the FC Sion defender (below) sounds more of a possibility, well, some of this has to be right ! We’ve spoken to a very decent journalist in Switzerland who has been of assistance before. He tells us, “From what I understand Swansea have admired him for a few months now. I believe they have had him watched as well, but they will have to fight hard to get him even though he is out of contract at the end of June”

There seems to be some more positivity in this latest report.

What continues to be an annoying itch is Wales On Line writer ? Tom Coleman. A so called professional journalist who continues to report news taken from here and then cite his ‘sources’. He has done it again today reporting our exclusive (and nobody else knew this anywhere, nor is it reported worldwide) Luka Modrić as potentially not buying a house in Swansea. As we reported over two days ago, it’s simply not true. Over two days later Coleman sneakily puts it into his report today. Not the cleverest of people clearly. His refusal to credit an exclusive source as he has done seven times this year (Swansea Independent) has been ignored by his line manager, David James so we have taken legal action. It seems the only way Coleman will sit up and listen. His attitude is arrogant and ignorant, so we’ve decided to put him right in our sights. We’ve tried the nice way, so the gloves are now off. Taking stories from a credible account that raises money for a charity and not crediting the source is a mark of this individual. We won’t rest until this guy is disciplined. There you go Tom that’s another twenty thousand people who know all about you now.

Here is our exclusive report.
