Ethan Galbraith doesn’t want to be anywhere else but Swansea City Wednesday, 2nd Jul 2025 10:31 by Liam Walters & Keith Haynes The name of Ethan Galbraith has cropped up again but the reporting we’ve seen over the past twenty four hours has been somewhat tainted by a desire to again convolute the information and distort the real meaning. As we stated a few days ago, the Swans very much like Ethan who is currently at Leyton Orient, but will not under any circumstances stretch their valuation of the player to the ever increasing demands of the O’s. In the thick of this is CEO, Mark Devlin and Director Of Football, Martin Ling. The latter being a much revered player and later manager at the club. Any approaches made at this moment in time, and there have been from Huddersfield Town and Charlton Athletic to no real conclusion things are very open. The former are not going to pay two and a half million pounds, that’s pretty much duff and glorified information from those claiming exclusives yesterday. The real problem is even in Wales, they have no duty of care towards Swansea City, it’s snatch the information from someone else, get it on your webpage and sod the consequences. No thought that they could scupper a deal, well, those in Wales in any event. They have literally no awareness what they can do so with a misplaced word, and as for their recent nonsense reporting players who nobody has ever heard of ! Shocking. When we had our weekly chat on Monday evening we made the decision to research Ethan Galbraith in our usual way, get as close as we could to him without losing the trust of those we speak to. The first thing we need to clear up is that Swansea City are not in a prime position to sign Ethan, they may well be in the future, but they can’t be at the moment. The reason ? There’s plenty of information from our research that tells us that no club can be, because no club is close. That’s just glorified headlines from an account that claims to have sources. Well, they are not very good ones. Here is some more background. Despite the frantic phone call from then Swansea City Chairman, Andrew Coleman right at the end of the last window, it turns out he actually did some good. Ethan was of course aware of the situation immediately. He has to be told. We have worked very closely with a person who knows Ethan, and has done for a number of years. He told us that ever since the Swans made contact he has been ‘smitten’ by the thought he could be a Swansea City player. As a youngster when the Swans were in the Premier League, and it wasn’t that long ago and into his teens the Swans featured on Match Of The Day every week. He saw the style and success during those years and still recalls them today. That’s a key piece of information. ![]() The other guidance we have is that he has been very keen to come to Swansea City, he is aware of the interest and although discussions have been on the periphery he has made it known he wants to leave. The continued talk of him being linked to other clubs is unsettling, and at a time when Ethan wants to be at a club he knows he will play for this coming season. Discussions we think will deliver more clarity this week, but Orient do have to be far more flexible than they have been. The Swans have decided to now move forwards and iron out the discrepancies and try and seek a solution. That may happen quickly or it could go on for sometime. You can understand the O’s standing firm, he’s a prize commodity to them and although worth less than the two and a half million pounds mark, it’s what clubs are prepared to pay that will eventually balance out. The Swans aren’t favourites to sign Ethan, that report is easily challenged. However because of the players desire to come to Swansea and he has made that known it does give the Swans an edge. That’s the exclusive. His career has been on the up since leaving Manchester United, being a part of the O’s frustrating attempt to get promoted to the Championship was a career blow. His Northern Ireland recognition over the years and all from a player who started off at Linfield. He relies very much on the guidance of his family and has an uncle who is a key shoulder to lean on. The advice he receives is very sound. This could well run for a while but now the Swans strategy is to clear up the issues and further official talks we should know very soon if they have been successful. ![]() Ethan Galbraith is now twenty four years of age, and to improve upon his career to date he needs to play at a higher level. He wants it, and it seems now the Swans will try and achieve that. But flexibility and more realism is needed by his club to make it happen. If that becomes fact Ethan Galbraith will play for the Swans next season. If it becomes an unmovable force the Swans will have no qualms in moving on as they have done since summer business began.
