Swansea City and their immediate plans for Galbraith Thursday, 3rd Jul 2025 08:00 by Keith Haynes The good news which is now a dogfight on social media of Leyton Orient agreeing terms to sell Ethan Galbraith couldn’t have been more welcome yesterday evening. The very fact that he has taken a step closer simply didn’t seem to satisfy some. Remarkable really. We simply couldn’t spell it out any clearer in yesterday’s report on Ethan with five exclusive pieces of news. (That’s news which hasn’t been reported elsewhere) We feel the vast majority of the fifteen thousand plus readers who clicked on the story got it, but there’s always a few who challenge it. So, in any event the official talks we reported did take place with the Swans determined to get this deal sorted quickly, there were two other targets in the wings. As stated Ethan only wanted to come to Swansea, and had already told his club he wanted to leave. If you’ve seen this elsewhere we are happy to credit that source. We should really put a wink there. Yesterday —> Galbraith exclusive We’ve always said it’s not about being first it’s about being accurate (at the time) so someone putting a tweet up from 3 weeks ago when the Swans were being put off by the price tag, no talks at that point, and nothing officially planned did make us chuckle. We move on. This is the plan as long as everything goes smoothly over the next few days. What we know this morning is that Ethan should complete his medical by Friday evening. The Swans may choose to do that in London, they’ve done this recently with a foreign purchase and haven’t been put off by a player on holiday to get get a deal done. When Orient eventually struck a deal with Swansea City after a whole day of dialogue yesterday (that’s the official talks we mentioned) the reported deal was one and a half million pounds. That won’t be up front as the Swans as much as every other club in the English system and beyond will have a deal over the period of a players contract. Put very simply a three year deal will cost the Swans £500k a year if the figure mentioned of one and a half million pounds is accurate. It’s not that far away. And as we know this will be wrapped up with numerous add ons from promotion (as per Joel Piroe when he went to Leeds United) to anything else you care to mention. The list can be anything. Appearances, international milestones, jumping on one leg etc … As the club did and is doing now with all signings (Harry Darling and Lewis O’Brien included) Ethan’s contract will be filled with incentives. We have learned he was on £4,100 a week at the O’s. Some sources state his Swansea contract is agreed, others not, but we are certainly veering towards a positive on this. The Swans are now known for pitching their salaries for this type of player to around eight thousand pounds a week. Franco, Ronaldo, Widell etc are good examples, in fact two are on less. Without any confirmation yet it’s hard to gauge, but first the Swans want to get Ethan through his medical. They still have memories of the last window of Jacob Wright the Manchester City player who never took his coat off and was hovering around the exit door, hoody up talking on his mobile phone before shooting off to Norwich. We will bring you more updates in our usual way as transfer news is heard, but as we said yesterday if it is pending we won’t carry anything until the last minute. The elements of sarcasm in this report are purely meant for entertainment or Ipswich Town fans. ![]() Photograph already licensed Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
