Swansea City v Stevenage : Match day, the very latest news & KO time
Saturday, 19th Jul 2025 08:00 by Liam Walters

Swansea City take on Stevenage today in another friendly leading on from the 5-0 hammering last weekend of Kidderminster Harriers (behind closed doors) The game will go ahead, however there are some deciding factors.

Temperatures will top 35c and that’s in extreme sun, so the forecast of a midday kick off could change. There are no other fixtures at the Pinatar Arena today so there is a degree of flexibility. There is a yellow warning for extreme high temperatures which in Spain needs to be taken seriously. The staff and players are at La Finca resort, a five star training facility about thirty kilometres north of the town of San Pedro Del Pinatar. As we reported last week Assistant Head Coach, Darren O’Dea has had the squad under intense training before leaving for Spain. The double training sessions were described as brutal at times.

The upshot is according to Head Coach, Alan Sheehan is that “It’s all about fitness, and getting our levels of performance to do it as long as we can really.” On the game Sheehan added, “Ultimately we know what we want to get out of it, and get everybody through it injury free which is the most important thing. We need to get them up another level and closer to the level we want to get to”

It sounds like the intensity hasn’t stopped with Sheehan admitting there has been no let up on the highly demanding training the players are being subjected to. Even commented on by midfielder Melker Widell at the training camp - it has been like nothing he has experienced before.

The Swans squad is missing Eom unfortunately who continues to battle for fitness with an ankle injury. Jerry Yates is out of favour and remains training in Swansea. What we can report this morning that there has been absolutely nothing at all on him moving and the situation is as it was. Josh Ginnelly is another whose future at Swansea looks over.

There will be two sixty minutes games today, and all of the travelling party will get game time. The Swans squad that has travelled looks like this.

Andy Fisher, Lawrence Vigouroux, Kit Margetson (Conahs Quay) Josh Key, Jay Fulton, Ben Cabango, Melker Widell, Zan Vipotnik, Josh Tymon, Cameron Burgess, Gonçalo Franco, Florian Bianchini, Liam Cullen, Ricardo Santos, Bobby Wales, Zeidane Inoussa, Joel Cotterill, Ethan Galbraith, Ollie Cooper, Ronald, Sam Parker, Cameron Congreve, Arthur Parker, Blair McKenzie, Sebastian Dabrowski.

Stevenage were beaten 5-0 by Queens Park Rangers two weeks ago but last Saturday put that right smashing Bishops Stortford for eight away from home. This game will be competitive for sure, and a large number of Swans fans are already in the area for this fixture. We will report on how it went for the Swans later this evening.
