Swansea City : Wycombe forward of interest and not for the first time Thursday, 31st Jul 2025 07:00 by Liam Walters & Keith Haynes Richard Kone the twenty two year old Wycombe Wanderers centre forward is out of contract next summer with his club prepared to listen to offers around the five million pounds mark. Well, that’s the latest, but there's more. So, what do we know. The rumoured five million pounds price tag has been described to us as ‘very hopeful’ and most certainly won’t be paid in one go by any Championship club. The Swans are interested as of this morning and some basic dialogue has been happening of late. Where that is at this time is anyone’s guess. Wycombe do overvalue their players as we saw with Joe Low in January, Wycombe could have achieved more for him from the Swans as opposed to the speculated £450k paid by Huddersfield Town this summer. All inquiries were rejected by Wycombe. ![]() We carried news of some player interest via our Twitter account two days ago. The initial rumour we believe came from within the club which doesn’t do the Swans any good at all when having talks for players. We have always refused to name players, just adding context to the player when rumoured. We now know that Swansea City are in talks, but Kone’s arrival at the club is not guaranteed. The payments will need to reflect the value the Swans put on the player, and as stated Wycombe are difficult to negotiate with. However, they do risk lowering his value considerably if they hang on until January. They are more than aware of the situation they are in. We broke news on Richard Kone in December 2024, that’s linked below. The other news on this is that Kone is highly unlikely to accept a new contract at Adam’s Park so the risk goes deeper if he leaves as a free agent next year. As it stands the Swans we believe won’t match the five million pounds requested, but can most certainly offer the player far more than he is currently earning at Wycombe, plus the contract conditions could easily earn him hundreds of thousands of pounds more if Swansea have a successful season. These are add ons that Wycombe simply cannot match. It’s the time of year that players become unsettled when they hear of offers, allegedly Preston have offered three million which is the bench mark really for the Swans with enough wriggle room to get him in for the new season. Swansea City are not desperate for a new centre forward but along with a central defender it remains something the club will want to achieve before the window ends on September 1st. Again the club do not need to sell to achieve this potential signing with Jerry Yates and Florian Bianchini set to leave. We can add Ollie Cooper is now not featuring in first team plans at the moment there will most certainly be players leaving. Richard Kone has a remarkable back story, when we first reported Swansea interest in December 2024 this feature below was a massive hit. That’s the latest on this particular player, thanks again for visiting us, recycled news is available elsewhere which at times come from these pages without credit, so your support is appreciated. ![]() Photograph : tag:reuters.com,2025:newsml_MT1NURPHO0009XN18D:487187232 Licensed Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
