Swansea City : Malick news, striker in talks, fans forum & Sheffield United
Thursday, 14th Aug 2025 07:00 by Liam Walters & Keith Haynes

With one more player in for some of this season, that’s Malick Yalcouyé on loan from Brighton the Swans now are diligently pressing on to sign a player from mainland Europe. With so many incorrect reports on players recently that we have tidied up we trust that Malick Yalcouyé has pleased the majority of the Swansea faithful.

His terms and the overall fee is very high for a nineteen year old but the recruitment team seem to have unearthed a real prospect. There is a possibility Malick (below) won’t be available to the Swans from around mid December to mid January, that will depend on his selection for the African Cup Of Nations. We are also looking into the age grade competitions that could also take him away from Swansea duty. Ipswich were one club believed to have balked at the figures involved to sign this player. We have spoken to a local reporter in East Sussex who tells us he is an astonishing player, someone who will set the Championship alight if given the opportunity. Swansea head coach, Alan Sheehan has already cited Malick’s fitness and pre season preparations, and we believe there is no time like Saturday to get him in the squad.

At the Fans Forum last night the gathered hosts including Alan Sheehan, CEO Tom Gorringe and Sporting Director, Richard Montague were clearly finding it hard to remain tight lipped on this latest signing. There was talk, and to be honest to date only a striker is being spoken to, of more signings to come. A surprise to some. However, not only are the club reviewing recommendations, we believe at least one will be another loan signing. You won’t get names on here as there is no chance at all that those players being spoken to (that we know about) will be reported on until it’s safe to do so.

It is interesting that the club do have a return to academy one status, that’s going to take time, and financial input. Let’s remember that profit and sustainability isn’t a feature when investing in building work, academy teams and facilities. Over to you Snoop. Later on today we will cover the upcoming game against Sheffield United at the Swansea.com this Saturday. (3pm) Suffice to say there are a whole load of tickets still available for this fixture, more than we experienced at the same time of the week at times last season. It’s a big test and will be a great game, so surely it’s worth making the effort for ?
