Swans v Baggies in the FA Cup : Vitor and the money involved Friday, 9th Jan 2026 08:00 by Liam Walters It’s FA Cup weekend with games spread across four days in what is still a highly thought of competition. It also won’t be lost on the Swans of the financial advantages on offer either. With TV money, gate receipts and a win the club could bank well over two hundred thousand pounds. Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion : FA Cup 3rd Round There are some exceptionally good ticket prices for this game. We can expect some changes to be made to the squad and the obvious one is in goal with Andy Fisher deputising for Lawrence Vigouroux. There has to be a side that can compete of course but with no news on any recalls for our four Premier League loanees there’s room surely for Kaelan Casey ? There will be a need for some experience alongside him. A midfield that doesn’t include Malick Yalcouyé would be disappointing purely down to the fact he is just getting into the swing of things and has less game time in his legs. There wouldn’t be many arguing if Bobby Wales is given the nod as well as Ishé Samuels-Smith who did start against Millwall last week. They would be our expected changes. Swans head coach, Vitor Matos is going into his first experience of the FA Cup as the man at the helm. He must still be shaking his head in disbelief at times at his monumental move to this standard of football. He has proven himself to date to have the capabilities to inspire and introduce new ideas into the squad, we can only hope last gasp goals aren’t the order of the day. Unless of course the are in the right net. Speaking to our usual contact in the West Midlands he believes that had Ryan Mason still been in charge at the Hawthorns we could have seen a different team line up on Sunday. He would have been pretty desperate to get a win. Maybe now a more reflective side will be fielded by stand in boss, James Morrison based on the league programme ahead. Interestingly Eric Ramsay, currently working in the USA at Minnesota United - who has been linked to the Swans in the past is odds on now to take the new head coach role at the Baggies. We shouldn’t forget the money on offer and that will be welcomed by any side winning their third round tie. We’ve got the list of prize money here for basic qualification to each round. This doesn’t include TV money for a game being screened. That differs across the board. However, it is expected both Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion will receive around £80,000 each for this LIVE screening. ![]() We have more on the build up to the game to come and as ever have our eye on the transfer window today as well. ![]() ![]() With this months news being dominated by transfers in and out of Swansea City, not least our exclusive reports and first time features. These have yet again been taken by paid journalist Tom Coleman with no credit from Wales On Line - and spewed out as mainstream media work. As long as he keeps doing it we will keep mentioning it. A complaint again has been lodged with Reach PLC and David James, Wales On Line Editor. Remember we are charity linked and he is depriving this site of recognition and views by being as arrogant as he continues to be. And that affects the Brain Tumour Charity. That’s the measure of person we are dealing with. ![]() Artwork by Swansea Independent Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
