Ricardo Santos transfer comes to fruition, there could be more
Tuesday, 13th Jan 2026 17:18 by Liam Walters

Swansea City are open to players leaving this month as inquiries hot up this transfer window. Working within a precise remit the Swans are open to certain players leaving the club. And by that we don’t mean Ethan Galbraith as an example at this exact moment in time.

First team regulars are very much in the clubs minds to retain, not only now but in the summer, the latter will prove difficult. However, an intermediary who has worked with the Swans in the transfer field by representation tells us that clubs like Swansea cannot have players sitting around and not contributing. “There’s clubs out there with multiple millions to spend, especially in the Championship. Of course you think of Wrexham and Birmingham City but I would say their owners are now quite cautious having supported their managers well in the summer” That’s clear to us as well, Phil Parkinson at Wrexham has been in the firing line this season as has Chris Davies at Birmingham City. Both were probably two bad games away from the sack in November.

He went on, “Having players sat on your bench as an example who aren’t involved in a match day on the field is a false economy, especially when you have players who can come in and do that very same job. You may as well upgrade a few players from your academy, you do have some real talent in there. You have several at this moment in time. I include Ollie Cooper, Andrew Fisher, Ricardo Santos (see below) and Sam Parker in that plus now you have Joel Cotterill back from a loan. In my view these are not Championship players who will earn you a route to even a sight of promotion. The Swans are a very fair club to work with, and that is from personal experience. You now have good owners and a focussed recruitment plan. You only have to see Melker Widell, Ethan Galbraith, Zeidane Inoussa and Marko Stamenic to see how aware Swansea are in the open market. You have a good guy at the helm in Adam Worth and other clubs are taking notice. Whatever your club does they have to retain Malick Yalcouyé this season.(Brighton loanee) He is very much a rising star. He is another excellent example of how Swansea have improved their management of incoming transfers”

Indy : We generally agree with this assessment and despite a slow start and now injury to Adam Idah there’s a player there who if he applies himself correctly can be someone who scores goals. His overall application though for us is lacking. He concluded, “This isn’t a downer on your club but it is reality. You have to work in this way”

** It always hapoens, whilst putting this together this happened. As it stands Ricardo Santos is about to join Reading, initially that was on loan but Swansea have managed to get a decent fee for him to join the Royals. That is pretty much what our source has been telling us over the past few days. We predict if his medical goes well this evening and tomorrow he will sign permanently with no issues. It’s common knowledge now.

More news as we get it plus a really exciting read coming up on Lawrence Vigouroux.
