Swans in transfer discussions pre Birmingham City, Casey gone
Thursday, 15th Jan 2026 15:43 by Liam Walters

Swansea City are preparing for a crucial televised game against Birmingham City on Saturday evening (5:30pm) LIVE on Sky TV. With players leaving on loan and still questions over Rak-Sakyi even interested to agree to the offer from the Swans to come in on loan, it’s a bit of an upside down week.

Kaelan Casey has most certainly returned to West Ham this afternoon, the main reasons being obvious that his appearances for Swansea under both Alan Sheehan and Vitor Matos were below expectations. A quality player, and most certainly one with a huge future in the game he becomes another quality loan player who had his game time reduced because he had more senior players in front of him.

With him gone there is cover still with Joel Ward who without doubt barring injury will feature in the Swans squad this Saturday. If Matos continues his faith in Josh Key and he is able to play it does offer an opportunity for Ethan Galbraith to return to midfield. The latest news on Ricardo Santos is that his Reading move has stalled. But as we reported two days ago his services are still of interest to another top League One side. Will the Swans now keep Santos as Casey has left ?

This will give our readers insight most certainly as to how hard these transfer windows are. And hopefully the work is appreciated, especially as we have two researchers who actively supply some excellent information to us most days. With Santos and Sakyi in limbo, Casey retuning is now confirmed. The Swans are making progress on another target to counter recent squad changes but that information is best kept under wraps for now. What we do know is that he has Championship and Premier League experience. More on that to come.

Palace loan still contentious

Chris Davies and Birmingham City pre match coming up. Plus that Vigouroux feature with a twist.

Ethan Galbraith made a lot of things happen from the midfield early in the season before the switch to right back. I thing Josh Key has found his form again and all credit to him for his cameo and assist last Sunday!
