Twelve seconds of magic wins the game for the Swans at Leicester Saturday, 11th Apr 2026 19:10 by Liam Walters It took one moment of Eom magic for this game to return three points for the Swans. In what was possibly the most mind numbing game of the season full of dull football and a lack of effort we saw Eom intervene and secure the three points. Some will say any win away is a good win, and that has its place for sure but Swansea City were extremely fortunate not to go in at half time a goal down. The heroics of Lawrence Vigouroux between the sticks and a goal line clearance by Zān Vipotnik ensured both sides went in at 0-0. Having said all that the Foxes are a toothless side with little confidence who managed to suck the Swans into a ridiculously poor game as the first half went on. Gustavo Nunes looked to have been brought down in the Leicester City area but that was ignored by official Sam Allison after no flag from his assistant. It looked a penalty and on a second look it seemed a sure fire spot kick. Two first half chances for the home side to take the lead were squandered, but they really are a side that looks like they are heading towards League One. Sam Parker out on the Swans right didn’t have the same game as he faced on Monday against Middlesbrough, he seemed more composed from the off but found it very difficult to get forwards. The Swans in their defence hardly looked rattled and seemed assured and composed bar those two opportunities for Leicester to score. Marko Stamenić doing the unseen hard work solidifying the midfield played his part with the ever enthusiastic Duracell bunny commitment of Melker Widell. Nothing really went the Swans way until the second half, Gustavo Nunes looked isolated but Eom did have some flashes of brilliance. He was brought down by Jannik Vestergaard but thereafter that yellow card was never tested in a mundane encounter. Cameron Burgess had another very decent game clearing everything that came his way as did Ben Cabango but it really does look like the season is taking its toll on Josh Tymon. He had a great chance to square the ball late on in the forty five but merely passed the ball to the keeper. That was the story of the first half, not a lot and pretty much nothing at all on reflection. The Swans goal came early on in the second half. Eom latching onto a loose ball from a very poor Foxes free kick. He negotiated two thirds of the pitch either leaving Leicester defenders in his wake or skilfully evading tackles. With Stamenić and Vipotnik ahead of him he played a lovely weighted ball which Vipotnik eagerly took in his stride to secure the game for Swansea. His shot hitting the roof of the net. Leicester huffed and puffed thereafter but caused the Swans no real grief with substitute Gonçalo Franco able to break up play. Ronald also appeared in the second half. He had a chance late on but squared the ball to nobody with Adam Idah clearly annoyed at yet another poor piece of wing play from the Brazilian. His season will be remembered for those forward mistakes alone. Idah was also a second half substitution but recently we have seen him come on with the Swans in this annoying defensive mindset which leaves him alone up front or with little support. I mention defensive tactics as this is now a clear part of the Swansea game. An unnecessary one for me, there’s a team within that Swans squad that doesn’t have to play a defensive game as much as we have seen over the last six weeks. It isn’t necessary as there is enough of a dynamic in this side to kill off games like today. There have been other examples this season since Matos took the reins. ![]() ⚽️ Indy point of view : It was surprising at the delight of the Swans team post match, yes it clearly meant more to them than first thought, it was after all the first Swansea win at Leicester for seventy six years. It possibly confirms to them as a team today that their tactics were right. A defensive mindset prompts a side to defend deep as we saw today. It delivers to the opposition openings and it tells them that is their tactic when their opponent is a goal up. There’s seventy five percent of clubs in this league that would have at least got a goal back in the second half. But as stated there’s no need to employ that tactic when you have more than enough to kill the game off. ⚽️ Matos on the game : "I'm really happy, we know we needed to start picking up points away from home.I think the maturity of the team is now really showing, we all know that keeping clean sheets is massive, it comes with understanding the game. This league rewards teams that stay in games, not the teams that have unbelievable moments. That's the stage we're at now. There are still four games to go, now it is important to rest because it has been very busy these last few days." ⚽️ Rowett on the game : "We started okay and created some good moments without really getting into top gear and hurting the opposition as much as we'd like. We just give a stupid goal away. I don't know how many times I've said it. It's an absolutely ridiculous goal to give away, maybe we have to just go back to basics. To give a goal away of that sort is not only hugely frustrating, but when you've done it so many times it's heartbreaking to see because it puts everything you've worked on out of the window. We didn't react well enough after that. Our reaction after the goal was not what you would expect when you're fighting for your lives down the bottom end of the table. ⚽️ Foxes: Jakub Stolarczyk, Abdul Fatawu, Harry Winks, Stephy Mavididi (Jordan Ayew 62), Patson Daka (Jeremy Monga 73), Ricardo Pereira (c) (Hamza Choudhury 87), Oliver Skipp (Bobby De Cordova-Reid 62), Jannik Vestergaard, Jamaal Lascelles, Divine Mukasa (Jordan James 73), Luke Thomas.
