EFL Championship

Swans in west London under the lights tomorrow
Monday, 20th Apr 2026 13:52 by Swansea Independent

Swansea City will undertake their last evening kick off tomorrow at Loftus Road against Queens Park Rangers (7:45pm) it’s the penultimate away game of the season with Norwich City coming up on Saturday (3pm) Then it’s on to the last game of the season at home to Charlton Athletic the following Saturday (12:30pm).

That’s three games to go and nine points to play for. After Saturday’s frustrating defeat at home to Southampton, (yet another defensive display gone wrong in the second half) and a referee with considerably questionable decision making methods. We can only hope that the second half away form we saw at Sheffield United in that 3-3 draw recently, bar the goals conceded returns.

QPR Sit on fifty eight points in the Championship with the Swans on fifty seven. Again the difference between a win on Saturday, which was more than possible we see the Swans lower down the table. The issue there is had they won then they would be sat on sixty points in tenth place. That would have been a huge boost going into this game. It seems that this season every time the Swans look like breaching the upper echelons of the table they fail to do so. For us this has been all down to tactics, mindset and a lack of self belief. The players have been fantastic at times but the belief to remain so has never been seen away from home. There needs to be a far more positive Swansea City in both halves of games and that falls upon head coach, Vitor Matos to ensure mentally this team can flourish. Evidence of that not working is easily summed up by the teams away form.

And even more so when you look at their mostly impressive home form under Matos. You can clearly see how tight the league is and most certainly where the Swans could be today had they beaten Southampton.

On current form the Swans hosts are doing just fine.

The Swans form has dropped off somewhat having looked impressive for a short while. Since the Valentine’s Day defeat to Derby County the Swans have won two games at home and two games away out of twelve. Included are two draws and six defeats. That’s more of a measure now of Vitor Matos effect on the club. Fourteen points from thirty six. Granted before this twelve game run we saw the Swans defeat Watford away and Sheffield Wednesday at home. However, we have seen the Swans ship far more goals and fail to finish off too many teams to even be considered as anything but mid table.

The R’s are favourites, there is a tube strike with limited services and the Swans again will take a decent support to west London for a fixture that really doesn’t carry much with it but pride. Fans will find the information below useful.
