Swans cast aside all comers and reinstate their credentials as Wales number one Monday, 20th Apr 2026 18:44 by Swansea Independent Two Swansea City favourites accepted their top awards at the prestigious EFL night 2026 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London last evening. Josh Tymon and Zan Vipotnik took centre stage. Thankfully due to the rest of Wales coming up very short the nation still has a team to be proud of. In what had been a mediocre season for the Swans both players soared above the rest with Josh Tymon receiving goal of the season and inclusion in the Championship team of the season. Zān Vipotnik was also included in the Championship team of the season as well. Both players have signed extended contracts at Swansea City. Vipotnik until 2030 and Tymon until 2029. This ensures top dollar if both players become of interest this summer. Despite reports naming clubs interested in the Championship top goal scorer (Vipotnik) no fee has been set by the club. Anything you read on that is pure fabrication. ![]() Vipotnik (below) when interviewed at the Grosvenor said, “It’s amazing to be here for us, the season was nice for us but not for our team, we hope for better next year” Tymon added,”I’ve been in this league a long time now, and I’ve never been invited to anything like this. I take huge pride in getting into this team. As VP said individually it’s been a good season but as a collective group we know obviously that next year is one we have to prepare for because it’s not been good enough” These are both honest and factual statements. All Swans fans will be hoping that both remain for a promotion push as recent recruitment has produced permanent signings Marko Stamenić, Ethan Galbraith, Melker Widell, Cameron Burgess and Zeidane Inoussa, regardless of opinions they will all feature in the squad next season. And soon we will be covering some gems from the U21’s who should be included too. ![]() Tymon’s goal of the season came against Oxford United at the Swansea.com, but Vipotnik has scored over twenty goals for the Swans and that’s fully deserving of being included in the team of the season with Tymon. The Swans have scored some cracking goals this campaign to date with nine assists from Tymon, “ Yeah, I started off a bit slow, then kind of found my rhythm. I’m the type of player who will leave it all out there, and hopefully do my bit in supplying the big man here. I think it’s been an okay season, but yes, all good” On the goal Tymon stated it’s in the top three moments in his career so far. “You can ask any okayed they will all say the same thing. But I would definitely not to score another goal if that was my last one” Well done lads, the pride of Wales. Despite millions of pounds of expenditure at Wrexham, and it has been massive they only gained one player in the Championship team of the season disregarding their massive fees on Nathan Broadhead and Kieffer Moore. There’s plenty of others. This club has plenty to prove still. An academy graduate for the Wales first team would be a start. It seems that on this occasion quality and a bit of extra quantity nailed it for the Swans, yes a slightly frustrating season but overall much to look forward come August. The cream always rises to the top. ![]() ⚽️ Click for info It has saved lives. ![]() All photographs Swansea Independent Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
