Galbraith unhappy with talks & Swans offer
Wednesday, 22nd Apr 2026 10:00 by Keith Haynes

Sources close to Northern Ireland international Ethan Galbraith have stated that the Swans opening offer to improve his contract was somewhat disappointing. Talks took place we believe on Sunday with a rejection over the past twenty four hours.

We covered Ethan during his transfer to the Swans. There’s plenty within this report on our careful look into the player before he signed for Swansea City. Make of our news this morning what you will.

⚽️ That’s here —> Galbraith Exclusive

We have been told there is absolutely no need to even sit down with any club when the figures that are being spoken about for an improved deal are on the table. That indicates to us a lowball figure has been offered by CEO, Tom Gorringe. The head of the club in the UK will have had a brief, and he cannot be blamed solely for this impasse, but relations mustn’t be soured. The Swans find themselves in these situations most seasons, recently with Harry Darling, although he was pretty determined to leave but more concerning the way Ben Cabango was treated during his contract negotiations. He felt undervalued and was extremely disappointed with the talks initially. And this was a player who really wanted to stay at Swansea City.

There has been mention of a Wrexham bid in January for Galbraith, that is not entirely true, there’s a big difference between contact and a bid, let alone discussions.

The Swans really do need to avoid any bad feeling, the offer hasn’t even interested Ethan Galbraith nor his close family advisor. There needs to be some quick remedy to this, people may well think that an opening gambit is all a big part of the plan, but there are caveats. Such a prized player as Galbraith doesn’t need to feel the same as Ben Cabango did. He is a prized asset. So why even do this ?

Yes, Galbraith is on a long contract, his stock is very high and his value should easily be in excess of ten million pounds, we have no idea on that it’s just a punt. What we do know is that he is on a weekly slay of £9,500 and there are add ins as you would expect. There surely is some room for a decent proposed deal ? We will have more in this and will be speaking to one of our agent sources on the complexities of these types of negotiations. Of course they are delicate and it is a game of chess.

Of course that is if the Swans want to retain Galbraith and haven’t got an eye on a transfer fee they may well be already aware of ? Then of course this low offer will indeed unsettle him.The politics of the game eh ?

We made a record loss last year with players wages far exceeding income.
When are players going to realise they are paid VERY WELL with even average championship players earning a fortune.
In 2023/24 season the average championship wage was £825,000 a YEAR.
This increase every season and is probably around a £1 million this seasons.

Is it any wonder every championship team made a LOSS in 2023/24.
When will greedy players and agents realise they cant keep taking more and more money.

If that is the reason then It’s unbelievable Felix, the pot is dry no matter where you look in the Championship. There has to be a reset, the Swans will do so come this summer, we have to accept that. The positive for the clubs future is there is plenty of assets that will ensure this club remains competitive. It’s sad but also positive.
