Swans take the points and hit the sixty mark Wednesday, 22nd Apr 2026 08:00 by Swansea Independent Swansea City earned another away win at Loftus Road last night in what was an odd and very serene final match under the lights this season. A very questionable penalty was converted by Zan Vipotnik to add to an opening goal from Ronald. A large Swans support cheered on their team throughout the game but the home side offering was tepid almost as if they weren’t allowed to talk in more than a hushed voice. In fact Loftus Road bar the Jack Army was in deep sleep. The Swans were creative throughout this game that is until Queens Park Rangers scored via Rhys Norrington-Davies in the ninetieth minute. The rear guard action over the last eight minutes or so by the Swans leading to the inevitable opposition goal wasn’t unexpected. Thereafter it wasn’t too scary, but the thought was there. Leo Walta earned a recall and Jay Fulton started in a Swans side which also had Adam Idah up front. Despite his desire to move out to the wings he had a solid evening, his hold up ply was sound but had little opportunity in front of goal. The Swans found themselves in so much space throughout this encounter their passing albeit somewhat loose at times created enough goal scoring opportunities to put six on the scoreboard. Finishing of course was the reason but the build up play at times was supreme. Under no pressure whatsoever they were able to craft out chances. Rayan Kolli Was possibly the only player for the hoops who had a clear chance in the first half. Ronald’s goal was well taken after a lovely ball forwards from Jay Fulton, the hoops defence made mistakes (Steve Cook which makes us smile) as the ball bounced to him clear in on goal. He steadied himself and fired the ball into the R’s net. No problem. It was just the right moment for him and those who read our pre match reports will know the reason why he started the game. We knew Walta was also starting as well as a potential change up front, and it wasn’t disappointing. This though was a mid table game with the best side coming out the victors. At times the Swans were streets ahead of their opposition, they looked so comfortable the whole scenario had the feel of a pre season friendly. The deciding goal as such was as remarkable a penalty as the Swans didn’t get on Saturday against Southampton. Yalcouyé put Eom through with a lovely ball that the South Korean’s pace won. As he got goal side of Ttlon Smith he was clearly brought down. No problem there, referee Leigh Doughty saw it and blew up for the infringement. Unfortunately for him Eom was a good yard outside the area. So he decided a penalty kick would be the best remedy. Zān Vipotnik did the rest. The ever impressive Sam Parker had an opportunity to score but his progress since earning the right back spot has been impressive. That freedom continued throughout the second half with chances being made but not taken. Adam Idah was denied, Josh Tymon caught the ball just right but was thwarted by QPR keeper, Joe Walsh. Liam Cullen had the best opportunity immediately upon coming on and he really should have done much better. The Swans have turned in some very good performances overall since the injury to Ethan Galbraith, yes we’ve seen some frustrating tactical displays at times but his loss hasn’t been that noticeable. Of course a player of that standard will add to the mix, but overall we see Sam Parker as a huge boost to the squad not Ethan Galbraith being absent. At 10am we have an exclusive on the latest news regards Glbraith’s contract. ⚽️ R’s: Joe Walsh, Kealey Adamson, Steve Cook (captain) (Ttlon Smith 61), Isaac Hayden Nicolas Madsen 61), Rurman Burrell (Richard Kone 61), Kwame Poku (Paul Smyth 29), Rhys Norrington-Davies, Harvey Vale, Kieran Morgan, Rayan Kolli (Ilias Chair 60), Ronnie Edwards.
