Diplomatic Matos before the trip east today : Stamenić interest confirmed Friday, 24th Apr 2026 08:00 by Keith Haynes Swans head coach, Vitor Matos remained diplomatic and carefully chose his words in a more enigmatic pre match than we have seen for a few games. He was jovial and added humour to some topics, even laughing about his own Swansea contract offer, and how it came about. To clear up the immediate, Ethan Galbraith, or more to the point his agent have planned talks next week with CEO, Tom Gorringe. The initial offer made to the Northern Irishman earlier this week has been turned down and we reported the reasons with possibly less diplomacy here at the Indy. Our research on this matter is watertight, and yes of course the first offer was turned down and considered derisory. The only concern we had was the impact on the relationship between the player and club as a result. Further talks signals there is still breathing space for negotiation. On that the only person with inside knowledge is Tom Gorringe. The fact is that Galbraith could have signed his deal and carried on with a good fifteen percent more than he is on already. But as Matos pointed out these things are not sealed at the initial stage. We all know that. What we don’t know is what Galbraith wants to sign a new deal and of course the finer print around a buy out clause. It’s always the caveats that take the wind out of a quick resolution. It won’t just be money for the player. A good negotiator would have assembled at least some detail on where the club need to firm up. We can only hope that Tom Gorringe has that information. Talk that Galbraith wants between eighteen and twenty thousand pounds a week is in no way confirmed, he currently sits on nine and a half thousand pounds a week. A huge jump from when he signed for the Swans last summer to what he was on at Leyton Orient. We will keep you updated as these talks progress. Our initial report is below, it has a link to our Galbraith info. It’s a huge game tomorrow for the Swans and not only that potentially their toughest test away from home for some time. Norwich were beginning to forget what it is like to lose a football match. There have been a few slips, but hardly concerning. Their awful form at the start of the season has disappeared and although there is no chance of them making the play offs they will be mentioned come next season as promotion contenders. The Canaries have scored eight more goals than the Swans to date and have conceded four less. Both clubs since switching managers have improved dramatically, and leaving stats aside both play a more decisive brand of football. The Canaries lost at home to rivals Ipswich Town (0-2) a few weeks back and we have to take heart from the fact Portsmouth took a point away from Carrow Road at the start of the month. The following game was that 0-2 defeat to Ipswich. That’s one point from six from those two fixtures. However, Derby County were defeated last time out 2-1. The last side bar Ipswich to defeat the Canaries at home were Birmingham City on the 21st February. That puts this game into perspective. The Swans would probably take a draw now. For the Swans it seems that Sam Parker (below) may be out for the final two games of the season but Matos has stated it isn’t as bad as his previous hamstring injuries. That’s a blessing. Obviously Galbraith is also out but there still remains a question mark over Zeidane Inoussa. The big decision for Matos is whether to go with Jay Fulton who has been impressive this year or Marko Stamenić. Will he go with both ? On **Stamenić we do know that there has been interest from other clubs from outside of the UK. Nothing official will materialise until that window opens. Talks between clubs can’t happen until the transfer window opens on Monday, 15th June. It closes on Monday, 31st August. However … ![]() Norwich City have opened up the third away block for home fans, and judging by sales to date the Swans have cleared around a thousand before the decision was taken to not place block three on sale. Mirko Topić and Ante Crnac are recovering from ACL and cruciate ligament injuries respectively. Papa Amadou Diallo (Groin) & Jovon Makama (Foot) are in light training but won’t be considered we understand. Matej Jurasek and Gabriel Forsythe are missing still. Harry Amass has returned to Manchester United with a thigh injury and Shane Duffy is also out. With all that Norwich have continued to impress since their resurgence. More build up to come. ** Sourced exclusive news, credit if reproduced. This site relies on visits to decrease the potential of people dying from a brain tumour.
