Swansea City in a quandary over experienced recruitment staff ? But why would that be ?
Monday, 25th May 2026 08:00 by Keith Haynes

Recently the name Jay Lefevre has been touted about as someone who is in the mix when it comes to recruiting and working with Club CEO Tom Gorringe. That’s good and bad news overall as the Swans are still without a Director Of Football (DOF) and a specialised football recruitment position.

The fact that Lefevre is chief scout still means that he will have ahold of the targets left behind by the departing Adam Worth, that possibly goes without saying but those names won’t last forever. It’s the options circling around the Swans targets and how quick and experienced Lefevre is at managing these matters. We understand as we have already reported that CEO Tom Gorringe is all over the recruiting of players as it stands, so he only really has Lefevre to lean on, and lean is a very good word to use.

That describes the current recruitment infrastructure at Swansea City.

Regardless of your thoughts on this it’s a simple fact, there is nobody else. Yes, head coach, Vitor Matos is keeping the lines of communication open with Liverpool, that’s also confirmed, but there is no designated person managing and handling matters as we saw last season. Some are forming the view that Tom Gorringe hasn’t been that hasty, despite those reports he is searching for a DOF by all accounts. We have included below our recent features on this and rumoured candidates like Mikael Dorsin (below) who seems a fitting proposition. However, he had risen to an executive position at Rosenborg before he left in late 2025. From the report we did you will see his qualities and the standards he set over the six years he was at Rosenberg. His management in the recruitment arena was second to none for a club like Rosenborg and within the club and academy. He made around fifty million pounds for the business and takes credit for academy transfers.

We see an issue here. And many Swans fans have said the same. A person with Dorsin’s credentials coming into a club like Swansea City would impress most likely from day one. His credentials and years in an active executive role at Rosenborg with the Sporting Director position ensures it will most certainly make him the go to man. A man that potentially threatens Tom Gorringe ? Someone with vast experience, far greater than anyone currently employed at Swansea, and to be open maybe as far back as Trevor Birch. It’s speculation of course, but we have to ask the question why this is taking so long and why Tom Gorringe is heading up transfers of multi million pound players, as it stands. He seems to be the main man when recruiting talent this summer.

And what about departures ?

But unfortunately he and his chief scout are simply not the answer if you canvas thoughtful supporters. Yes of course as CEO Gorringe has many functions, but this, if it stays the precedent for the summer is playing with fire. It’s just a topic that is beginning to crop up as the days roll on. It is still May remember, and finances are most certainly impacting on a new appointment. When June arrives that will be another month on from no salary being paid for two key positions. This website can only hope things are moving in the right direction but see no evidence of it whatsoever.

On a final note the Chief Scout Jay Lefevre isn’t mentioned in Swansea City directories, not sure why - the official site as an example which isn't that well run has loads of anomalies. What we need to see now is some progress and a fully structured club ready to have experienced people within it to build on what we already have.

It’s taking too long.
