Swansea city have signed Moussa Yeo from Salzburg in Austria for an undisclosed fee but rumoured to be in and around . Austrian and German journalists believed Moussa to be valued in and around four million euros but that’s more than the Swans paid. He had a year left on his contract so think far far less. Signing on until 2020 to suit the agreed payment structure. (amortisation)

Again for those still quizzical of amortisation it is gradual reduction of the value of a tangible asset over their contractual life, or the structured repayment of a debt over a set period. All clubs do it hence the confusion with a few old journalists spouting silly low figures on the Ethan Galbraith transfer to Stoke City.

The name Christopher Vivell seems to be a common denominator in Moussa Yeo’s career, he served as Manchester United's short term recruitment director in 2024 before impressing the hierarchy to the extent he remains at the club today. Before his time at Old Trafford, Vivell was a key figure in the Red Bull multi-club scouting network. Vivell was keen to see Moussa at both clubs. Eventually Salzburg did sign Moussa when he turned eighteen in August 2022 from Guidars FC. United also went what was described as ‘rogue’ going direct to sign Sékou Koné from Guidars. The Malian team have supplied numerous clubs in Europe with players, Moussa and Koné are by no means alone. The Vivell connection is a serious point. It hasn’t really been reported elsewhere. He now leads Manchester United's global recruitment operations.

Vitor Matos was keen to see Moussa at Swansea, a player he identified as ready for the tough Championship season to come. We know he had high regard for the player and with that being the case you can expect him to be in the number one position for the right wing berth. “He can play more than one pos­i­tion and has good game under­stand­ing. I have worked with him before, and I know he will be an excit­ing player. He is a young player, but he has already been exposed to a really good level of foot­ball and we are con­fid­ent he will be able to adapt to the phys­ic­al­ity, the intens­ity and the amount of games in the Cham­pi­on­ship. He is a player who can help us to improve in an area of the pitch where we wanted to take a next step. Moussa joins us after per­form­ing well in all aspects of our recruit­ment pro­cess and we are very happy to have him with us.” During his time at Salzburg, he scored a goal in a narrow 3-2 defeat against Aston Villa in the Europa League.(below)

In response Moussa told the Swans "He helped my play as a number nine and he helped my play as a winger. We had a good time together at Salzburg, and here it is going to be even better," That could well be in the thinking of Matos, especially as the number nine position could become weaker if the Swans lose Zān Vipotnik. More so we think within in game tactical changes, but it hasn’t been tried already with Melker Widell.

Yeo suffered a significant knee injury during a Bundesliga match against RZ Pellets WAC in April 2025.That injury forced him into several weeks of therapy, prematurely ending his domestic season campaign. It coincided with Manchester United’s interest which if Yeo is a success at Swansea will confirm the aforementioned Vivell as a man who knows a talent when he sees one. It could be an interesting time as we see a Swans side being slowly regenerated with permanent transfers. Yes we will see a loan coming in over the coming weeks, maybe sooner, there are still a few positions to fill, even up front if Bobby Wales is seen as a loan option elsewhere. But the Swans can now confirm three in with Leo Walta, Moussa Yeo and Stephen Welsh, and we don’t think they have finished just yet either.
