Swansea City seem to be keen on Ethan Pye a twenty three year old left sided defender / centre back with a liking for the midfield too. It’s another case of reading into the details for this one.

The Swans, (and you would think but not confirmed via Jamestown Analytics) have had an approach to talk accepted by Stockport County. This would suggest that Ethan Pye is a wanted man by Swansea, the news originally surfaced within the Stockport area yesterday morning. To say Swans news is a constant at the moment is an understatement. With new Sporting Director, Ben Stevens able to coordinate things whilst the majority of the squad and staff are in Austria readying themselves for their final game of their summer training camp, this is a massive help.

Ethan has played around ninety League One games (125 in all) but that doesn’t tell the whole story, he really does love a yellow card. In those league games he has picked up twenty, with two yellows meaning a sending off. He sounds a very keen young man indeed.

It is widely accepted that head coach Vitor Matos is keen to fill another left sided spot with Josh Tymon the only reliable left back occupant. And it is trickling out of the club that he very much wants a club stacked with permanent signings, and believes the loan market is a place where clubs should venture into, but not before sealing permanent deals.

Ethan’s versatility means he can play left defence as well as centre back. You would now think that the defence is nearly sorted out, but some will say another right back is needed. Sam Parker played left back against Bochum this week in the 2-0 defeat by the German second tier side, but he prefers right back. That position is being challenged by Sam and Filip Lissah along with Josh Key. Rumours, (and they are just that) surrounding that Josh Key could be considered in a part exchange deal aren’t confirmed However, he would be a great lever to get Ethan Pye at a reduced rate in a player exchange. We believe the Swans value Key in and around £700-800K.
