Ronald has hit certain headlines today with the regurgitated story of Coventry City being interested in the player. There has been other speculation regards other clubs which stemmed from João Van Boysen a Portuguese journalist who lives in Spain.

We have a number of contacts in Spain and of course contacts over the past six years via the many player transactions that have taken place. Today we have had a look into this Ronald speculation and as we suspected it all comes from other relationships developed by journalists and not surprisingly agents. Do agents place news on their players availability into their own trusted journalistic sources ? Well, yes of course they do. And it’s even better if another club can be named, like Corinthians. This time of year hundreds if not thousands of calls. We first reported on Ronald before he came to Swansea City.

That reference from a few years ago leads us to today’s news. Now as an agent and ex professional footballer who started his active work off the pitch in 2005, Mello (below with Ronald) is most certainly a welcome influence in any players life. He was heavily involved in Ronald coming to the Swans, without getting too bogged down he was an intermediary which is explained more in the link above. Coventry City were linked to Ronald a few months ago. That we believe came from people acting on behalf of Ronald. Mello runs the agency, FMS Gestao Esportiva based primarily in Brazil in São Paulo. In the main they represent Brazilian footballers and a few managers.

Ronald as a player had a very harsh upbringing and worked tirelessly to get where he is today. In the last one and a half seasons he hasn’t performed to the high standard he wants to, but if he can click he would be a huge asset to any club. Without doubt an almost constant in the Swans match day squad. Back in late April we referenced Ronald and interest from Coventry City, again that would have been down to the hard work of FMS Gestao Esportiva, as we believe is the news today. It is being reported as a ‘shock Premier League move’ but there has been no dialogue between his agent and Coventry City that would demand such a headline. Ronald could find himself not featuring at the Swans as he would like with the busy summer window to date. We also hear there could be movement out but that isn’t going to be reported by Swansea Independent as it is far more relevant compared to today’s Ronald news.

Agents work hard all through the year and it is their duty to make available the best opportunities they can for their cadre of players. Ronald is one of those players. IF and it remains a big IF Ronald got his Premier League move you can guarantee his agency would be in for a big pay off which would be paid by the buying club. That’s how they earn their dues and it isn’t a few hundred grand it’s closer to a million. This is the way football works, agents would be neglecting in their duty if at this time of the year they didn’t do as much as they can to get their players into the news. Indeed in some cases the clubs they play for are in agreement, it all helps. Ronald could be surplus to requirements come kick off in August and Swansea City will be moving players on, two at least we think - more decent money for the Swans. Ronald has the edge at the moment, and his agency have made sure he has.
