Despite numerous accounts forgetting where the initial news of Zān Vipotnik and West Ham came from this is now becoming relevant again after the Hammers recent friendly results. They are making striker Wilson Isidor, currently at Sunderland, their top target, but this isn’t over yet.

West Ham are believed to have made a twenty million pound offer for Isidor who is rumoured to have left the Black Cats USA training camp for ‘personal reasons’ Nothing more important than a transfer we surmise. However, the issue is head coach, Nuno Espírito Santo convincing Isidor who believes he has a future in the Premier League to stepping down a level - so he will take some convincing. As reported by ‘Hammers News’ West Ham have fifty thousand season ticket holders, a few more than the Swans we think. That’s a great pull for any player.

The whole issue came to a head after West Ham drew 1-1 with German second tier side FC Magdeburg yesterday. If Isidor isn’t a Hammer in the next few days then we have been told by one Vipotnik source they think they will come back for the Slovenian. We have covered several reports on Zan which have come to fruition so there’s no reason to doubt them on this occasion.

The other issue is Zan has played just fifteen minutes of pre season football, he didn’t appear at all in Austria despite being there, the club stating he had an injury. The belief at the time that he was being saved for a potential transfer. That cannot be confirmed but the Swans are spending freely this summer aligning with Jamestown Analytics, a secretive but very successful sports data company. The connection of course is Tony Bloom at Brighton and Heart Of Midlothian. Bloom built the data infrastructure, algorithms, and mathematical models that power Jamestown. He is still very much involved and there is a multi year relationship with the Swans.

Albeit fees and upfront payments come with amortisation over the term of a players contract, we believe the club have shelled out in and around ten million pounds to date this summer. We include, Leo Walta, Stephen Welsh, Moussa Yeo, Joseph Opoku and Elijah Just, but not this latest transfer deal for Ousseynou Fall Seck. There’s money floating about, the sale of Ethan Galbraith very much helped and there is criteria for the Swans to utilise all of the up front fee of ten million pounds this summer. It’s a hot bed of possibilities, and there’s the tax implications.

Other fees have been received or will be for Liam Cullen and now Cameron Congreve. Players are off the wage bill, Ricardo Santos who was rumoured to be on eight thousand pounds a week. Players have gone out on loan - as it seems Ollie Cooper may do this week, they aren’t on a lot of money but it slowly chips away. And makes Zān Vipotnik more viable to retain.

Moving back to Vipotnik, West Ham were keen on Ethan Galbraith before his rapid move to Stoke which the club were determined to complete, so it makes you wonder if stalling now could lose Zān to another club. It was first reported on these pages that clubs were being put off by what was perceived as a bigger than expected fee for the Slovenian, so to counter the current speculation maybe West Ham don't rate him either, well - at that price of course ? Over forty four league games last season Zān hit the net twenty three times, that’s more than a goal every other game. He did provide three assists but also has a pretty exemplary disciplinary record. He also hit two in the League Cup.

What we do know is that there has been conversations with other clubs, one we believe was Sporting Lisbon and another that Zān really didn’t fancy. His loyalty to Swansea City is unwavering, he has acted as a true professional, signed a new deal until 2030 and not once have we seen or heard tantrums from him. Others may believe that twenty eight thousand pounds a week is a step up, but time will tell, a quick exit tells us a lot. We genuinely believe as many others do that Zān will be targeted by not only West Ham if this Isidor deal falls through but other clubs as the transfer window comes to an end. Desperation as we have seen in every window can earn clubs the price they want, and if that’s the case Zān Vipotnik is no different.

⚽️ Swans update : Vitor Matos has hinted on a potential loan player coming in, could be a left back unless he’s getting too excited. We are very aware that the Swans haven’t signed a loan player until now. Matos wanted permanent signings that are tied to the club and loyal to him for this campaign ahead. That’s makes a lot of sense to us and as we have seen it made a lot of sense to Swansea City.
