Swansea city : Midfielder transfer figure agreed with Valencia & the Swansea link

Swansea City have agreed a transfer fee with Valencia for their midfielder, André Almeida. The twenty six year old hasn’t featured that much in pre season and wasn’t in training yesterday for the east Iberian club.

A variety of sources have reported that the fee is agreed but there is still one big factor to all this. The player himself has made it known that he is uncertain about playing in the English league at second tier level. The link has not come from Jamestown Analytics (the Swans linked data specialists as some would expect) but from Vitor Matos himself. Matos and André Almeida (below) share the same agency and the same agents are working for both parties. Raúl Pais da Costa alongside Miguel Ruben Pinho handle the Portuguese arm of AS1 a large and respected sports agency. They are original founders of the agency and are very hands on with experience in law and as qualified agents. They handle multi million pound deals such as Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United (Ex : Source)

Matos became interested in the player after he had contractual issues late last year at Valencia and despite his age (which doesn’t fit the Jamestown Analytics overall standard for Swansea recruitment) saw the player as a remedy for his ever developing midfield. Matos also inquired about several Liverpool academy players in June, specifically Trey Nyoni but current head coach, Iriaola wanted to see more of him and took him on the clubs USA tour as we reported on these pages. There’s no news on this player but his impact was decent in the USA.

Almeida seems to be in a quandary regards his future but it is clear Matos is keen on the player and will stick with this until it is either completed or the player decides otherwise. The Portuguese connection be that with Matos, Almeida or their agents will be crucial in all this. As it stands we have been told there is little interest other than inquiries for Almeida who will be pressed for a decision before the Championship season starts on Friday 14th August.
